The ultimate guide to the best playgrounds and parks in Perth! Kids love burning off energy at parks and playgrounds, and Perth’s got some of the best in the world. We’ve seen many new super parks open up recently with some impressive play equipment, features and facilities. Best of all, they’re all FREE!
We’ve listed sand and no-sand parks as we know this can be an issue with some parents not wanting their kids to play in sand. We’ve added categories to filter parks with water features, enclosed fenced playgrounds, partly fenced and non-fenced. Those with open water where you can visit the ducks and enjoy some wildlife during your trip to the park. Many parks have toilets. However, some local community playgrounds don’t, which can be a deal breaker if you’re potty training your little one or want to stay longer than an hour. So we’ve listed parks with toilets available.
Lastly, we’ve added details of where playgrounds are close to local coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. Therefore you can grab a bite to eat before or after your play, or grab a takeaway coffee.

Hyde park, an inner city park which boast a pretty awesome playground. It is situated on the corner of Vincent and Throssell Street, North Perth. The playground is perfect for kids of all ages and abilities. Found at Movida Estate, Willuna Park in Midvale, offers a fun new playground. Just minutes form Midland, the park features a great mix of traditional equipment, nature play, sand play and even soccer goals that will keep kids aged from about 3 years and up entertained. Manning Park in Spearwood is the perfect spot to take the kids out for a picnic and play in the park. The reserve is huge with four car parks in total and plenty of wide open grassed areas. The playground itself is quite amazing, plenty for all ages, stages and abilities. There are shade sails over each section and plenty of trees to pull up under too. Promenade Park is tucked amongst apartment buildings in Burswood. It has recently been updated with new playground equipment. We stopped by for a play recently and found it had a lot of different activities to keep little ones occupied. There were a number of board activities such as a word search, ball maze and line up 4 which added extra interaction and different activities to the usual playground equipment. Clarko Reserve is a coastal reserve located at Trigg Beach at the end of Karrinyup Road. The jewel colours of the verdant green grass and shimmering blue sea beyond the dunes is a feast for the eyes. At a sheltered end of the reserve, near the beach car park, is a good sized playground with equipment to suit a range of children. We recently found a new bee themed park in Beckenham. The park has bee themed play equipment and hexagonal design features keeping the bee theme. In the largest hexagonal the play equipment features a bee platform with a slide that is accessed from a wooden bridge or climbing ropes on either side. Kalbarri Nature Playground overlooks the beautiful Murchison River on the Kalbarri Foreshore overshadowed by mature trees. The playground is a much needed addition to the town of Kalbarri which comes to life during the school holidays and is a firm favourite for many families. Olives Reserve is a great little park in Como with a brand new playground. The playground is sand based and features 2 slides, rope ladders, a fireman’s pole, wobbly bridge, rock climbing wall and swings. We had a great time racing through the equipment like a mini obstacle course and trying to catch each other. The rock climbing wall was a favourite with miss 3 spending lots of time trying to navigate and work it out. If you love a walk or ride along the Swan River like we do, be sure to add the Scented Gardens Playground on the South Perth foreshore to your list of places to stop. The Scented Gardens are found Sir James Mitchell Park, about half way between the Mends Street Jetty and Coode Street Jetty. Glasson park is a fully-gated and fenced playground, with a track around it for kids to safely scoot around in their trikes or scooters. There are plenty of shaded grass areas too. Inside the fenced area, you can also find benches and seats as well as BBQ-pits. Perfect for a picnic or even a party. Situated in the Shorehaven Estate is Shorehaven Boulevard Playground – a lovely, partially fenced playground that is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. Shorehaven Boulevard Playground features some play equipment we hadn’t come across before, and Miss 3 had a great time exploring. In the sand area, we found lots of colourful wood and plastic based play equipment. The lowest parts are made up of interconnected stations and feature some sensory play. The town of Williams is a good place to stop if you are on a road trip heading to/from Denmark or Albany. We recently stopped here on the way back from Denmark and found the quick park stop really helped to burn some energy and break up the journey. Santa Ana Park Currambine – hidden away behind the Currambine shops, down Santa Ana Mews is a little gem of a park. Tall trees surround a few grassy areas, perfect for kicking around a ball and provide shade to most of the park. The real draw to this park for us, was the playground as there’s one section which is designed just for toddlers, with just the right challenges and a safe height for your toddlers to master the steps and slide by themselves. The UFO-inspired Bob Gordon Reserve Play Space is out-of-this-world fun! The fully fenced playground features everything from UFOs, swings, flying foxes, slides, and water play to all the essentials like toilets, BBQs, picnic shelters, shade and ample parking. Burns Beach Foreshore Playground is a little hidden gem of a family play area. Don’t be mistaken with this playground and the Burns Beach Cafe Playground, yes there are two playgrounds! The Kent St Weir area has just got even better with the newly opened Pump Track. The pump track is located on Kent St as you drive into the main car park area. The last few times we have visited the area the car park has been full and parking has overflowed to the adjoining streets. Situated close by to Subiaco Train Station and Domain Stadium is the pretty and peaceful Market Square Park. We discovered the park after a visit to a nearby cafe, and Miss almost 3 loved it! It was quiet and leafy, full of birdsong with the sound of the occasional train going by. Tucked away down a suburban street in Duncraig (next to Davallia Primary School) is a brilliant new playground at Juniper Park. The park has both traditional and nature play equipment that will keep kids of all ages busy for some time. Vista Play park is situated along the Mandurah road in the new Vista Estate Singleton, just 20 mins south of Rockingham and 10 mins from Mandurah. It is the perfect location for a nature play date, morning tea or an after school run around. Keane’s Point playground is one of my favourite playgrounds. It is situated on the bank of the Swan River in Peppermint Grove next to the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club. There are two sand-based play areas at Keane’s Point Playground, both covered by sunshades, next to each. Coogee Beach Playground – it’s been many years since I visited Coogee Beach. Thankfully not much has changed. The beautiful lush grass strip is still there and is perfect for a game of cricket or dusting off the old frisbee or kicking the ball around. My daughter thought it was her racing track and proceeded to show off her running skills to who ever was interested. Huntington Park is a lovely small park, with most of the space dedicated to various wonderful play structures which are all set on sand. The biggest draw for slightly older children would be the giant flying fox swings. There are two running parallel to each other, great for racing your friends!
