The ultimate guide to the best playgrounds and parks in Perth! Kids love burning off energy at parks and playgrounds, and Perth’s got some of the best in the world. We’ve seen many new super parks open up recently with some impressive play equipment, features and facilities. Best of all, they’re all FREE!
We’ve listed sand and no-sand parks as we know this can be an issue with some parents not wanting their kids to play in sand. We’ve added categories to filter parks with water features, enclosed fenced playgrounds, partly fenced and non-fenced. Those with open water where you can visit the ducks and enjoy some wildlife during your trip to the park. Many parks have toilets. However, some local community playgrounds don’t, which can be a deal breaker if you’re potty training your little one or want to stay longer than an hour. So we’ve listed parks with toilets available.
Lastly, we’ve added details of where playgrounds are close to local coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. Therefore you can grab a bite to eat before or after your play, or grab a takeaway coffee.

The Kent St Weir area has just got even better with the newly opened Pump Track. The pump track is located on Kent St as you drive into the main car park area. In a hidden pocket of Hillarys, lies a freshly revamped kids playground set amongst the leafy trees and green lawns of Broadbeach Park. The City of Belmont has a very cool new edition a Forster Park – a bike pump track! There’s the regular pump track circuit and then there are some pretty large jumps. This is so much fun – even just watching is very entertaining. Only bikes with air-filled tyres are allowed on the track as scooters and plastic wheeled toys can damage it. Dianella Open Space playground is a great play area for kids of all ages with a huge amount of different and challenging activities to keep every kid entertained for hours! If you love a walk or ride along the Swan River like we do, be sure to add the Scented Gardens Playground on the South Perth foreshore to your list of places to stop. The Scented Gardens are found Sir James Mitchell Park, about half way between the Mends Street Jetty and Coode Street Jetty. Tucked away in a quiet street in Queens Park is Serisier Parkway playground. It is a fully fenced playground with two gate entries. It is quite well shaded naturally with palm trees in the park and tall trees surrounding. The play equipment has a small climbing wall, slide and a couple of rope climbing activities. Hyde park, an inner city park which boast a pretty awesome playground. It is situated on the corner of Vincent and Throssell Street, North Perth. The playground is perfect for kids of all ages and abilities. The Rivergums Adventure Park is a monster inspired nature-based adventure playground and is the perfect place to let your child’s imagination run wild! From the moment my 2 year old spotted the huge monster feet he was roaring with excitement!!! Hardcastle Park, Landsdale Located in family-friendly Landsdale, Hardcastle Park is a delightful new playground for kids of all ages. Featuring nature play, tradition play equipment and a picnic space, it’s a great space to hang out with the family. On arriving, I was first struck by the large grassed area. Found in a new inner city housing estate, Montario Playground in Shenton Playground is wonderful place to let the kids explore. There’s lots of fun and fantastical elements packed into this compact playground including some “Alice in Wonderland” style giant toadstools and even some giant eggs. We all know and love the beautiful Bells Rapids, but just a few Kilometres up the road is a peaceful spot known as Jumbuck Hill Park. Located on rolling hills in Brigadoon, this park is the most peaceful spot we have been to, and at the moment with so much rain you can hear the water flowing in the rocks in different areas of the park. Dazzle Park is a vibrant and colourful playground located at lluma Estate in Bennett springs. This unusual playground is situated within a hedge maze which we are sure will provide lots of extra fun once it matures. This playground is definitely one for the kids not afraid of heights. Dianella BMX Track As of July 2021, Dianella Regional Open Space now features a stunning new BMX track. Dianella BMX Track is naturally shaded and the perfect spot for kids of all ages to race off some energy. Stage One and Stage Two of the new track, built by City of Stirling, was completed in July. There are four bike tracks, plus a trainer track, mini track, intermediate track and advanced track – meaning there is a level to suit everyone here. The impressive $1.5m The Edge Skatepark Calista is one of WA’s biggest skating facilities. The skatepark’s main features are a competition-level bowl, street section, beginner’s area (great for little ones on scooters), parkour obstacles and a basketball half-court. Jackadder Lake Playground is a picturesque park just north west of the city. This lovely lakeside spot features a shaded children’s playground, exercise equipment and paths perfect for bikes and scooters. As of the beginning of August 2023, the playground has been refreshed with new climbing equipment, a new and improved juniors area, and new picnic facilities. There’s a new playground in Perth’s south! Found at The Links golf course in Port Kennedy, “The Nest” is a great spot for kids to play – particularly if they love golf. All aboard the good ship “Investigator”! We found ourselves at the Flinders Bay Playground in Augusta, quite by accident, literally. What started as a family day out at Hamelin Bay, ended at the small seaside town after a trip to the Augusta Hospital (gotta love a fishhook in the leg!). As of autumn 2022, Coventry Village in Morley now has a fenced outdoor playground. In addition to the existing indoor playground, this is located close to cafes and restaurants.
