Buggybuddys Guide to Parks in Perth and Playgrounds in Perth
Find Playgrounds near me
The ultimate guide to the best playgrounds and parks in Perth! Kids love burning off energy at parks and playgrounds, and Perth’s got some of the best in the world. We’ve seen many new super parks open up recently with some impressive play equipment, features and facilities. Best of all, they’re all FREE!
We’ve listed sand and no-sand parks as we know this can be an issue with some parents not wanting their kids to play in sand. We’ve added categories to filter parks with water features, enclosed fenced playgrounds, partly fenced and non-fenced. Those with open water where you can visit the ducks and enjoy some wildlife during your trip to the park. Many parks have toilets. However, some local community playgrounds don’t, which can be a deal breaker if you’re potty training your little one or want to stay longer than an hour. So we’ve listed parks with toilets available.
Lastly, we’ve added details of where playgrounds are close to local coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. Therefore you can grab a bite to eat before or after your play, or grab a takeaway coffee.

Noah’s Playground opened in October 2018 in the beautiful Rosehill Waters Estate, South Guildford, the playground is inspired by the story of Noah’s Arc and is perfect for adventurous kids! The main feature is a huge wooden structure with three towers joined by suspension bridges and a tunnel slide in the middle. Despite his persistence, my son who is almost 3 couldn’t climb the towers without assistance, so I was up and down with him loads of times – once at the top there is very little risk of falling and it is spacious enough for adults. The second climbing Read more…

The playground is fully fenced and has good shade cover from the beautiful old tree in the middle of the playground and the surrounding trees. If you’re looking for a playground that’s great for imaginative play, Albacore Park in Sorrento might be for you. It has a fun castle play structure that’s sure to get little imaginations going. Unlike a lot of playgrounds, Albacore Park’s main structure is wooden, giving it a more nature-based feel. The first thing we spotted was the two slides, one straight, one bumpy. These are connected by a low middle platform with a wooden ladder and a rope ladder leading up to the slides. A fireman’s pole comes down at one end, and a ladder of stacked rubber platforms that Read more…

Set in the heart of beautiful Perth Hills spot, Roleystone, Borrello Park has something for kids of all ages. Recently, the play area at the much-loved park was replaced. This park is only 15 minutes’ drive from Armadale town center, and yet it feels like you’ve travelled hours down south. It’s close to Araluen Botanic Park too. The leafy park is particularly special during late autumn (May), when the golden leaves of the deciduous tree park begin to fall. The new play structures include an easily accessed walkway, fort and slides. The wood-chip based area is partially shaded by sails. Read more…

Jurien has long been a favourite spot for Perthites to visit, whether as a stop-off on a journey up north, or as a final destination. The recent upgrade of the foreshore ensures that it will be a favourite holiday spot for years to come. Tapping into the town’s rich maritime heritage the new playground is reminiscent of its most famous commodity, crayfish! The huge main structure resembles giant cray pots! Stacked on top of each other the interior is a twisted maze of logs and rope nets to challenge older kids. The reward for getting through the maze is a Read more…

Grand Promenade Reserve, Bedford Grand Promenade Reserve is a leafy park in the City of Bayswater. It has a great sand-based playground with a mixture of equipment for a range of ages. If your child likes to climb, they’ll likely enjoy this playground. With ladders, a rope web and a small climbing wall, as well as a balancing beam course, there is lots to exercise little muscles. My Miss 4.5 was straight up the climbing wall and up a ladder made up of small platforms from the moment we arrived. When she wasn’t climbing, she was jumping off into Read more…

Pine Park is a hidden gem in Darlington, in the Perth Hills. I grew up in the hills and my parents still live there. On today’s visit we thought we’d try somewhere different to the usual park. I’m glad we did, it was a very pleasant morning and more importantly little Miss had a great time. It is a small playground with a castle theme. Most of the playground is not shaded but there is plenty of shade around the area. The main play structure has a number of climbing walls and ropes, cubby areas, bridges and a slide. Apart Read more…

In the heart of Armadale, you will find Memorial Park. As of September 2018, the City of Armadale has reopened the park with a new train theme, which is sure to be a hit with kids of all ages! The first part of the playground we saw on approach was the train-shaped play frame and the station. The train is designed around an old steam engine and features platform steps to climb up inside, a tunnel down the middle where the boiler would be to crawl through, and small rope ladders to climb at the front. The underneath of the Read more…

Morris Mundy Reserve is a lovely reserve in Kensington with basketball and netball hoop, cricket wickets, football goals, large green oval, picnic tables and a new shaded playground. The reserve backs onto houses on three sides although not fully fenced is fairly safe as it’s a long way between the playground equipment and the road. The playground is shaded by shade sails and large well-established tree. I could only see one picnic table but we put down a picnic rug under the tree shade and it was lovely. Along the back of the playground, there is a combination swing set Read more…

Set on the sheltered beach at the vibrant Hillarys Boat Harbour is this lovely playground. The main structure has plenty to do including a sand Read more…

Fantastic new playgrounds that have a strong focus on nature play are popping up all over the Perth area. Researchers at the University of WA have found that natural playgrounds provide children with more opportunities than typical pre-formed playgrounds to develop gross-motor skills. Bannister Creek Nature Playground in Lynwood combines traditional play equipment with more natural elements, providing opportunities for children to use their imagination and explore. The playground is predominantly sand and wood chip based and is shaded by lots of big trees. Bannister Creek runs, behind a fence, alongside the playground. The playground contains lots a whole host Read more…

Lathlain Park is found to the north of Mineral Resources Park – aka the home of the mighty West Coast Eagles! It’s a lovely little spot, across the road from the small but mighty Lathlain cafe strip, and larger playgrounds at both Rayment Park and Tom Wright Park. We’ve been along with some takeaways from Laika Café in the school holidays and been lucky enough to spy the Eagles training. As well as Laika (with it’s own basketball court), there’s Kettle Café and a fab new bakery to check out on the strip too. It really is a gem of Read more…

Carine Open Space is one of our local and favourite parks to head to on the weekend as there are oodles to do and see. We usually spend a few hours there if it’s nice weather and take the kids scooters/bikes and the dog. This is a big favourite for dog walkers on the weekend and they sometimes have organised sporting comps on at the weekend so it can get busy at peak times. There’s a pedestrian pathway around the main playground area and then this turns into a dirt road but still great for prams, scooters and bikes and Read more…

While we were all locked out of playgrounds due to COVID-19, Floreat Beach Playspace had a total makeover! The focal point of the playground is the ‘Kraken’, a cephalopod-like sea monster which I think looks a little like a blue-ringed octopus! The wooden climbing structure features climbing obstacles and slide. You can also hide in the belly of the beast. A tentacle to the side features different ropes and rings which are perfect for little monkeys. Another tentacle houses a small net swing. The highlight for my 3 year old was captaining the wooden boat – he loved pretending he Read more…

Located in the growing coastal suburb of Yanchep, around 47 minutes north of Perth, Viridis Park is a small, rope-focused playground that’s best suited for older kids who love to climb, swing, and test their balance. It’s not a main attraction on its own, but it makes a fun stop during a day out in Yanchep, especially for families doing a bike loop or casual drive through the area. Set right against a quiet residential street, the park is still road-adjacent, so keep an eye on younger children. The good news is, it has its own small designated parking area, Read more…

Alkimos Park is situated in a newly established family suburb estate, north of Butler (NOR).
