    Jackadder Lake Playground, Woodlands

    

    Jackadder Lake Playground is a picturesque park just north west of the city. This lovely lakeside spot features a shaded children’s playground, exercise equipment and paths perfect for bikes and scooters.  As of the beginning of August 2023, the playground has been refreshed with new climbing equipment, a new and improved juniors area, and new picnic facilities.  Miss 9 was excited to check out the new play equipment.     The Edge Skate Park, Calista

    

    The impressive $1.5m The Edge Skatepark Calista is one of WA’s biggest skating facilities. The skatepark’s main features are a competition-level bowl, street section, beginner’s area (great for little ones on scooters), parkour obstacles and a basketball half-court. Found opposite Westfield Whitfords shopping centre, there’s plenty of fun to be had on two wheels, plus there’s a flying fox and playground to cover all bases.     East Cottesloe Nature Play Trail

    

    Set in reclaimed parkland alongside Railway Street in Cottesloe, you can find a one of Perth’s newest nature playgrounds, East Cottesloe Nature Play Trail. Including a scooter track, a fenced toddler park and wooden climbing equipment, this nature playground has something to suit kids from tiny tots to teens.  Opening in September 2023, this new nature trail replaces an older pre-existing playground, known as the Purple Dinosaur Park.     Fishmarket Reserve in Guildford is one of those classic Swan River picnic spots. It’s set right on the river, with the Guildford Boat Ramp nearby, which is suitable for launching small boats, kayaks and canoes.     Rushton Park, Kelmscott

    

    If you’re chasing a new playground, Rushton Park in Kelmscott is such a good one to have on your list. Found in the Perth Hills foothills, it’s close to bush trails for a pre- or post-play wander.
