Treetop Park is a gorgeous neighbourhood Playground tucked away amongst the trees in the Bushmead estate, in Perth’s foothills. Opened in late 2023, this compact but thoughtfully designed park is perfect for kids who love to climb, explore and feel like they’re playing up in the canopy. Set amongst mature trees, it has a lovely natural feel and plenty of shade, making it a great spot for a relaxed playdate or a low-key weekend adventure.

The hero of the Playground is the impressive 6‑metre timber tower, complete with bridge walk and enclosed tube slide, designed to give kids the thrill of playing “up in the treetops”. Older and more confident children will love tackling the steeper ladder and climbing elements to reach the top before zooming down the slide. It’s a great challenge piece that encourages balance, coordination and a bit of bravery.

Younger kids aren’t left out – they can access a smaller slide via a wide, gently sloping ramp that winds its way through the play space. Along this ramp you’ll find extra little challenges and play opportunities, including a fireman’s pole, climbing net, stepping logs and other balancing elements.

The ramp design also makes it easier for adults to move around the play area with prams or toddlers in tow, and to stay close by while kids explore.

On ground level there are plenty of extras to keep children busy. A nest swing is always a hit with a wide range of ages, whether they want a gentle rock or a more energetic push from a grown-up.

Little imaginations will be drawn to the “shop window” play panel, perfect for turning the Playground into a café, shop or ice cream stand during pretend play.

Monkey bars and various climbing features offer more chances to hang, swing and build upper-body strength.

The park has been carefully built around existing mature trees, so there is a good amount of natural shade over parts of the play area. Surrounding the Playground, there are grassed spaces that are ideal for spreading out a picnic rug, having a snack break or kicking a ball around. Families will appreciate the practical facilities too – there are BBQs, a couple of covered picnic shelters and a long communal table that works brilliantly for group catch-ups or casual birthday parties.

One of the nicest things about Treetop Park is its peaceful, slightly hidden feel. It’s set back from the main road within the Bushmead estate and is best accessed from the easterly entrance to the development, near the bottom of the Zig Zag. This gives it a tucked-away, local-park atmosphere, while still being only a short drive from Midland and Kalamunda.

If you’re making a day of it, there’s plenty more nearby to explore. Just a few minutes’ drive away is the brilliant Giant Park, another standout Bushmead Playground with its fun “sleeping giant” theming and big climbing structures. Zanthorrea Garden Centre, with its charming sculpture walk and small Playground, is also less than five minutes away and makes a lovely add-on stop for plant-loving families.

For local families in Bushmead and the surrounding foothills suburbs, Treetop Park is a fantastic everyday Playground – small enough to feel manageable with younger kids, but packed with enough climbing, sliding and exploring opportunities to keep primary-aged children happily occupied.
