Buggybuddys Guide to Parks in Perth and Playgrounds in Perth
Find Playgrounds near me
The ultimate guide to the best playgrounds and parks in Perth! Kids love burning off energy at parks and playgrounds, and Perth’s got some of the best in the world. We’ve seen many new super parks open up recently with some impressive play equipment, features and facilities. Best of all, they’re all FREE!
We’ve listed sand and no-sand parks as we know this can be an issue with some parents not wanting their kids to play in sand. We’ve added categories to filter parks with water features, enclosed fenced playgrounds, partly fenced and non-fenced. Those with open water where you can visit the ducks and enjoy some wildlife during your trip to the park. Many parks have toilets. However, some local community playgrounds don’t, which can be a deal breaker if you’re potty training your little one or want to stay longer than an hour. So we’ve listed parks with toilets available.
Lastly, we’ve added details of where playgrounds are close to local coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. Therefore you can grab a bite to eat before or after your play, or grab a takeaway coffee.

Every new playground popping up in Perth seems to be bigger and better than the one before, Shorehaven’s Treasure Island Adventure Playground is no different, although this playground has taken ‘play’ to a whole new and exciting level by creating a real-life treasure island. This adventure playground overlooking the Alkimos wreck not only encourages kids to climb, swing and slide, there is also a series of hidden clues, puzzles to solve and treasure to find. Today we tried out the new playground at Richardson Park in South Perth, just near the Perth Zoo. We found it to have a good range of equipment for a range of ages and it backs onto a large expanse of grass for ball games or running around. The park is small and narrow but packed with equipment including musical pipes, stainless steel drums, talk tubes, lots of climbing and a big slide. It is a sand based playground. There are several play areas at Richardson Park with one suited more to younger children with a see-saw rocker, sand play Read more…

Nestled amongst trees at Mary Crescent Reserve in Eden Hill is a small, but lovely nature playground that features a fun flying fox! The play area has been designed for kids of all ages, with equipment that appeals to primary school aged kids, as well as little ones. What all kids will go running to is the flying foxes, perfect for racing friends! One of the flying foxes has a “chair” for younger children and those less physically able. Be sure to take along a bucket and spade for a little sand play in the huge sandpit, which also Read more…

Within the newly built Amberton Estate is Eglinton Park Playground, AKA “The Flying Fox Park” The park is overlooked by residential houses and a relatively quiet road with ample roadside parking. I would suggest the park is more suited to older kids rather than toddlers due to the openness directly onto the road, extremely steep stairs, slope and slides. The biggest attraction to this park is the huge Flying Fox (suitable for 5years plus) which is fantastic fun for the adults as well! I personally found it exhilarating and terrifying at the same time! There is a sandpit area complete Read more…

There is a gas barbeque under the trees for public use, making this a good spot for a family picnic or event. There is no shade over the playground itself but plenty amongst the trees. Carine Open Space is one of our local and favourite parks to head to on the weekend as there are oodles to do and see. We usually spend a few hours there if it’s nice weather and take the kids scooters/bikes and the dog. This is a big favourite for dog walkers on the weekend and they sometimes have organised sporting comps on at the weekend so it can get busy at peak times. There’s a pedestrian pathway around the main playground area and then this turns into a dirt road but still great for prams, scooters and bikes and Read more…

Did you know that the May Drive Parklands located in Kings Park and Botanic Garden was the very first environmental playground and community area of its kind in Australia? The park is fondly known as “The Dinosaur Playground”, since it’s home to many climbable dino sculptures. OPTUS STADIUM SENSORY PLAYGROUND – Smack in between the Camfield and the new bridge at Stadium park at Optus Stadium you will find a fully fenced sensory playground. This is a very well thought out, fun park! The first things my girls ran towards were the big rope climbing frame and the slide. The entrance to the slide is at the top of a “soft fall” hill – this meant getting to the slide was a good challenge for the little kids as they had to work out the best way up. It was interesting to watch so many attempt Read more…

We had an absolute blast at Bathers Park, the newest addition to Alkimos Beach. Nestled alongside the Alkimos Beach foreshore, Bathers Park stretches across 2.5 hectares at the ocean end of Leatherback Boulevard. The kids were eager Read more…

Just outside of Mandurah, tucked away in suburbia is Meadow Springs Quarry Adventure Park. Its size is deceiving from the road, with a lush green grassed area and playground visible, however, it extends back and down into the quarry. The first playground you come across is a traditional style one, with a lovely big spider net swing, fun stepping stones, slides, stairs, climbing challenges and some rockers. Hiding under one of the climbing walls were even some dinosaurs to be found. This playground is perfect for younger children, my toddler had an absolute ball here. If you walk further back Read more…

Set right in the middle of the new, vibrant dining and entertainment precinct at Westfield Whitford City is a beautifully unique play area for children.
