Little kids are well catered for at restaurants with play corners and playgrounds, but what happens when the kids grow out of all that?! Most restaurants and cafes in Perth offer kids’ menus for ankle bitters to the age of 12-ish. So when your tween or teen graduates to the adult’s menu โ but would still like a little entertainment, where do you take them for dinner?! I have a teenager myself โ eek! So now eating out mainly revolves around what weโll actually be eating, and he doesnโt want chicken nuggets, thanks very much. Check out my big guide to dining with teenagers in Perth.
Brewdog, Perth
If youโre searching for a spot that will genuinely appeal to older kids and teens, BrewDog West Perth is well worth a visit. The venueโs industrial-chic vibe and spacious layout give it a cool, grown-up feel that teens will appreciate, making it a great place to hang out before a concert at RAC Arena or after a day of shopping at Watertown.
BrewDog really shines when it comes to keeping teens entertained. Upstairs, thereโs a pool table thatโs always popular with older kids, and the collection of board games means thereโs never a dull moment. The retro arcade games add a nostalgic twist that even tech-savvy teens canโt resist, and the basketball hoop in the courtyard is perfect for a bit of friendly competition. The venue often hosts themed activities and events, especially during school holidays, so thereโs always something new to check out.
The menu is teen-friendly too, with generous burgers, wings, pizzas, and plenty of plant-based and gluten-free options for those with dietary preferences. Teens with bigger appetites will love the hearty serves, while those after something lighter can opt for fresh salads or poke bowls. The relaxed, inclusive atmosphere means everyoneโfrom fussy eaters to adventurous foodiesโwill find something to enjoy. Read the Buggybuddys review.

King Hot Pot, Morley
If your tween or teen loves to be in control of their food (or is just a bit fussy!), King Hot Pot in Morley is a brilliant interactive option. Everyone gets their own little hot pot built into the table, so kids can choose their broth โ from mild tomato and mushroom to Tom Yum, Miso, Curry Laksa and more โ and cook everything themselves right in front of them.
The highlight for most kids is the sushiโstyle train that circles the middle of the restaurant, loaded with plates of meats, seafood, veggies and noodles, generally priced between about $2 and $6.50. Tweens and teens can grab what appeals as it goes past, experiment a bit, and build their own perfect combo. Itโs a fun change from burgers and pizza, and a great way to gently encourage them to try new flavours.
Thereโs plenty of seating around the train and at larger tables for families or groups of friends, and itโs easy to keep an eye on what theyโre choosing. Pricing is reasonable so it doesnโt have to be a blowโtheโbudget meal out. Thereโs also a second King Hot Pot in East Vic Park if thatโs more convenient.
