If you have visited Mason’s Family Farm in Anketell before and loved spending time there with the kids, there is an important update you will want to know. The farm has now temporarily relocated to The Gardener’s Nursery on Thomas Road (still in Anketell), giving families a new place to enjoy everything they have come to love about Mason’s.
After taking over the former The Gardener’s Nursery in October last year, the Mason’s family made the decision to move their farm shop in response to the increased focus on poultry biosecurity across Australia. By reducing unnecessary traffic through their working egg farm, they can continue producing their delicious, farm-fresh eggs that they are known for while still welcoming families to connect with the other farm animals in a safe and enjoyable setting.
It’s a thoughtful change that supports both the welfare of their hens and the best interests of Mason’s Family Farm, and so we went to check out their new location and still loved every bit of it and maybe more!
The Gardener’s Nursery has been around for over 40 years and is one of the most beautiful garden nurseries in Perth, set amongst mature gardens and trees. Whether you are creating your first veggie patch, refreshing your outdoor space or simply looking for inspiration, you will find plenty to explore in this huge nursery.
Browse through rows of healthy seedlings, colourful flowering plants, herbs, fruit trees, large pots and unique ornaments. The nursery is thoughtfully laid out into easy-to-navigate sections, making it easy to find what you are looking for. Plant lovers will also appreciate the impressive selection of lush indoor plants.
Beyond the plants, you can also browse through outdoor furniture and stunning water features that will add plenty of character to any backyard.
Now for the highlight of our visit- the new Farm Shop, which has quickly become a fantastic destination for families.
Children can still get up close with the resident goats, with opportunities to pat and feed them. Inside the goat pen, there is a tractor to climb on, adding an extra element of farmyard fun for the children.
Children can also spend ages digging and building in the huge sand pit, while the craft tables and activity station offer a quieter space for colouring and drawing.
Meanwhile, parents can take a well-earned break at the coffee van, conveniently located right next to the play area. With seats overlooking the play area, it is easy to relax with coffee while keeping an eye on the children. The menu also includes family favourites like toasted sandwiches and fairy bread, making it the perfect spot to recharge.

And for little animal lovers, besides the goats, they can also find pet birds and fish in the nursery. They even do a fish feeding session at 9 am daily!
To finish off the trip, just by the entrance, families can browse through the huge collection of giftware and shop by the local produce and Mason’s Family Farm eggs. Ample parking is available onsite, and toilets are found inside the nursery.
