Perth’s northern suburbs have a fun-tastic destination for outdoor play with the opening of Gumnut Park in Sinagra (July 2026). In my opinion, there’s not enough large playgrounds in this area, so this is a very welcome addition. This thoughtfully designed playground offers a wide variety of activities across a large, landscaped space, making it a fab choice for a family outing in the northern ‘burbs.

The most striking feature of the park is the two massive play towers. These are fully enclosed and can be accessed in various ways, including stairs, ramps, and climbing walls, ensuring there is plenty of room for kids to explore and little ones don’t get left out. An adventurous, high up, rope bridge connects the two towers, leading to a choice of slides. There is a toddler-friendly option, a gentler yellow hilltop slide, and the large grey tube slide to satisfy the little thrill-seekers.

Beyond the towers, the park is packed with traditional and natural play elements. You will find wooden balance beams, rock climbing walls, and rope climbs scattered throughout. The swing set is inclusive, featuring a toddler swing, standard swings, and a nest swing.

For those who love a bit of speed, there is a flying fox that includes a toddler seat for the younger daredevils.

For kids on wheels, a loop surrounds the area, perfect for a scooter or bike ride. There are also designated painted game areas featuring basketball hoops, four square, and hopscotch. The park is well-equipped for longer stays with BBQ facilities, water fountains, and plenty of shade – but there are no toilets. Large grassy areas provide plenty of space for a picnic or a game of footy.

A few tips to avoid any faff on your visit: there are currently no toilets located directly at the playground, though facilities are available at the nearby LillyPilly display village or pop into Wanneroo Library on the way. Parking immediately around the park is limited; a good alternative is to park near the LillyPilly Playground and take the short walk over.

If you are after a caffeine fix, my local favorites include Elixir Coffee in Wanneroo, or the excellent drive-through Xcite Coffee.
All in all, Gumnut Park is a great addition to the Wanneroo area – perfect for toddlers to teens.
