As of October 2018, Gascoyne Park in Woodvale opened an exciting new playground. This includes nature-play elements and traditional play equipment to suit kids of all ages. The first thing to catch Miss 4’s attention was the carved wooden crocodile. He is carved out of a log, his back left rough while his head and tail are smooth and painted green. He’s great for balancing, or Miss 4 thought it was fun to pretend to feed him using sticks and sand. The main attraction is the main play structure though. This features a double slide, curly slide, various ladders, a Read more…

Lake Monger is now home to an exciting new adventure playground! The playground has been specifically designed for children over the age of 5 who love a challenge! Arriving at the playground, my 5 year old couldn’t wait to tackle the ninja rope obstacle course, or as he called it the Roblox obby. But lucky this obby means ditching the screens and playing in the real world! The rope obstacle course is definitely a challenge and a great way to develop and enhance strength and balance and conquer fears as well. The kids love zipping down the 25-metre double flying Read more…

Located across from the WA Museum Boola Bardip is the Perth Cultural Centre Playspace, a quirky little play space which has a heavy focus on sensory play. The Playspace is fully fenced and gated and it is open daily from 8am – 7pm. It is recommended that the playspace is suitable most for children aged 6 – 13 years but children under that age can get a lot out of it too. Perth Cultural Centre Playspace incorporates art and nature with interesting items the kids can touch and explore like wood carvings and spinning wheels. There is even a spinning rock! Read more…

Masons Gardens in Dalkeith is a lovely neighbourhood park, with an art trail, play equipment and even a turtle habitat! If you head into the turtle pond area, you’re sure to spot a shy Oblong Turtle or two. The pond is fenced, with access through a couple of gates. Be sure to shut them behind you so dogs and other animals can’t get in! We spied a couple of turtles swimming in the pond. The gardens are lots of fun to explore. Perth’s newest beachside playground, Capricorn Beach Foreshore Adventure Playground, is now open. The FUNtastic ocean-themed playground is perfect for kids of all ages and is located just minutes away from the Yanchep Lagoon. Arriving at the playground, my kids ran straight to the big tunnel slides, they had a ball racing each other down the slides and trying to work out which slide was the fastest. Beside the slides is a tricky cargo rope obstacle kids can tackle to get back up, there are also stairs. A super fun rope roundabout is in the sand at the end of the Read more…

Adachi Park just off Great Eastern Hwy in Belmont has recently had an upgrade to the play equipment. You might know the park for the little brick house that is located there and can be seen from the highway. We recently stopped by for a play and a wander along the river walking paths. We found this a great little spot with parking, toilets, bbq facilities and covered picnic tables as well as the playground equipment and walkways. The playground is quite small with cubby house and a climbing structure with two slides, seesaw and a birds nest swing. The Read more…

Opened in 2020, this great park in Australind makes a great stopover on the way down south. It takes its name from the local Wardandi Noongar language. Karragarup means “place of crabs”, as the bay the park sits on is well known for it’s blue swimmer crab population. So, what better way to celebrate that than by playing on the giant blue swimmer crab that takes pride of place in the centre of the park! With one claw held high holding a net swing and water misters coming of him, you can’t miss it! The whole playground has a coastal Read more…

Brampton Park in Butler is nestled next to a manmade lake which has lots of ducks and birds and big rocks amongst some shallow parts of the lake for the kids to climb on (you just need to remind them to be careful as some are slippery as our Mister 5 fell in). There is plenty of grass and open space to run around and there are also paths that meander around the park so it’s great for the kids to bring their scooter or bike. There are also some benches if you want to bring a picnic. However, there Read more…

Banksia Grove Nature Playground is a small nature-based playground located between Dragonfly Road and Potoroo Street on the Eastern Side of Banksia Grove. The wooden play equipment is perfect for helping children with balance, coordination and confidence. The equipment features balance posts with rope, twisted net, shaky bridge, balancing beam and a little wooden table with posts for chairs. In addition to the nature-based play equipment is a tripod swing – a favourite with my children as they can all fit on together and being a smaller park there wasn’t a wait to get on. Banksia Grove Nature Playground does Read more…

Tucked behind the Mundaring Village shopping centre is Lion Pioneer Park, a large grassed area with a playground, park benches and a covered picnic table. It can be found off the Stoneville Road entrance or via ramp or stairs from the shopping centre near the Post Office. The play equipment is over a sand base and has swings, see-saw and play structure with slide and climbing. The main play equipment at Lion Pioneer Park has everything Read more…

We love this little park. Situated in the new Vertex Estate in Yanchep lies a small but great park for young ones. There is a large wooden climbing frame featuring different options to get to the top including a rock wall, wooden steps, ropes and more. There is a fireman’s pole at the top and the kids had a ball climbing the structure. It is a sand based park so Mr 3 loved sitting in the shade under the structure digging. There is also a double slide, a nest swing, wooden stepping logs, and even drums! There is 2 undercover Read more…

Nature play in the heart of Perth. So large and magical you almost forget you’re in a city. Flowing creeks, waterfalls, rope climbs, mud kitchens and make your own cubbies. The possibilities here are endless. Rio Tinto Naturescape provides a picturesque place for your children’s imagination to run wild. There are multiple different areas that all seem to merge seamlessly into one perfect nature playground. The areas are great for big kids and toddlers with a lot of care and supervision in certain areas. The mud kitchen was a good first option for my daughter to get her stuck into Read more…

While the Wanneroo skate park has been established for a long time a children’s playground is a more recent addition. The park sits within the confines of the showgrounds, meaning it is secure for little runaways! I’m not sure if the playground colours of green and purple are a nod to the 1970’s Wanneroo Primary School colours, or just a happy accident, either way, it is a fun combo. The equipment features a curved slide, swings and a rowboat. There are a lot of ramps to run along and climbing frames. The whole playground is covered in shade sails to Read more…

A park for big and little kids, with shade sails, soft flooring, multiple ways to play, and a fully fenced area, sounds perfect. Bracadale Park, All Abilities Playground in Canning Vale, is just that. It is designed so that all kids of varying abilities can enjoy and play. The standout for me is that this park is fully fenced. Even with just one kid you feel like you can never look away, with two kids or even more, it’s impossible trying to find a playground trip relaxing. The park is secure and large enough that you can easily spend a Read more…

Found by the Mandurah Ocean Marina Keith Holmes Reserve is a popular spot for families in Mandurah. Whether you’re here for the day, or a local of this coastal town, it’s a leafy spot for a picnic or BBQ. Throw in the man-made Lido beach and the markets and cafes of Dolphin Quay, and you’ve got yourself a fun day out! Kids will love pretending to be a pirate in the boat play structure. I can imagine this would be great for a child’s pirate-themed birthday party. There’s also a small shady playground. There’s enough equipment to keep most Read more…

McIntyre Park is located on McIntyre Avenue in Burns Beach and it offers a large grassy oval situated next to a nautical-themed playground, fringed by picnic shelters. McIntyre Park playground is largely constructed with wood and is unique in design with its nautical theme. The playground is sand based with a soft fall pathway. I love the little seagulls that are dotted about on pieces of the play equipment. There is a large slide which you access by climbing two sets of internal wooden ladders. Shade sails are erected over the slide during the warmer months. Unfortunately there is no other shade Read more…
