Tucked within the Myella Estate on the northern banks of Lake Joondalup, this compact neighbourhood Playground makes a fun stop for local families or anyone exploring the Wanneroo area.

The bright orange climbing structure immediately catches the eye and provides a bit of a challenge for confident climbers. Kids can test their skills on the nets and ladders before rewarding themselves with a speedy ride down the slide into the soft sand below.

Younger children are well catered for too, with a sandpit area that includes a small tripod swing. It’s a great spot for toddlers to potter about with buckets and spades while older siblings climb nearby, and the whole play space is small enough that it’s easy to keep an eye on everyone at once.

Nature play elements are scattered through the park, encouraging a bit of imaginative and physical play. There’s a comfy hammock-style swing, which tends to be a surprising favourite with many kids who love to gently sway or be spun by a friend or parent.

A series of balancing logs invites children to tiptoe, jump and test their coordination, while a small wooden lookout structure adds another level for exploring, playing “house” or simply enjoying a different view of the Playground.

Adding to the sense of fun are quirky frog sculptures dotted around the play area. Little ones will enjoy spotting and counting them or weaving them into their imaginative games.

There’s also a simple four square court marked out, so it’s worth bringing along a ball to teach the kids this classic Playground game or enjoy a quick family match.

While Myella Estate Playground doesn’t have toilets on site, it does offer a drinking fountain and picnic tables, making it a pleasant place for a snack stop or casual catch-up with friends. For families wanting to extend their outing, there are some great local food options close by.

You can swing past Drovers Bakery for a takeaway coffee and treat, or head to Leapfrogs for a relaxed family lunch after a play.

Overall, Myella Estate Playground is a cheerful local park with a mix of traditional and nature play features, best suited to early walkers through to primary school-aged kids. Its cosy size, natural elements and nearby café options make it a handy little spot to know about in Wanneroo.
