If you’re chasing a new playground, Rushton Park in Kelmscott is such a good one to have on your list. Found in the Perth Hills foothills, it’s close to bush trails for a pre- or post-play wander. The play equipment (replaced in late 2025), is vibrant and green, with reed-like green poles blending into the riverside spot.  The playground’s glow-up looks fantastic and it’s set up really nicely for a mixed-age crew. Harborne Ruislip Playground, Wembley   Harborne Ruislip Playground is a neat fenced park in Wembley. It may be small, but it’s packed with features kids will enjoy! The first thing that grabbed Miss 8’s attention was the wooden play structure. The main feature of the playground, it has a baby swing and a birds nest style swing. In early 2026, an impressive $1.3m upgrade to Whitfords West Park brought a new pump and jump track to the northern ‘burbs. Found opposite Westfield Whitfords shopping centre, there’s plenty of fun to be had on two wheels, plus there’s a flying fox and playground to cover all bases. The three tracks features a circuit of rollers, berms and jumps for BMX bikes, mountain bikes and scooters, catering to riders of all ages and skill levels. Set in reclaimed parkland alongside Railway Street in Cottesloe, you can find a one of Perth’s newest nature playgrounds, East Cottesloe Nature Play Trail. The Veterans Memorial Park Port Kennedy has something to suit the whole family, from tiny tots to teens! The large park includes two playgrounds, the new-ish Port Kennedy skate park and a memorial dedicated to our war veterans. The city of Rockingham’s largest skate park features lots of trails, bowls, ramps and an adjacent snake run. Though it’s very popular it’s large enough to ensure plenty of room. Jackadder Lake Playground is a picturesque park just north west of the city. This lovely lakeside spot features a shaded children’s playground, exercise equipment and paths perfect for bikes and scooters.  As of the beginning of August 2023, the playground has been refreshed with new climbing equipment, a new and improved juniors area, and new picnic facilities.  Miss 9 was excited to check out the new play equipment. The impressive $1.5m The Edge Skatepark Calista is one of WA’s biggest skating facilities. The skatepark’s main features are a competition-level bowl, street section, beginner’s area (great for little ones on scooters), parkour obstacles and a basketball half-court.
