Stretton Way Reserve, situated behind Kenwick Village and is one of the shadiest parks I have seen. Shade sails cover the climbing equipment as well as the BBQ area making it good for summer outings. The play equipment has an excellent variety of play equipment including three slides, monkey bars, balancing equipment, various levels of climbing structures, and a basketball hoop. Chichester Park Playground in Woodvale has received a fab glow up in October 2026. The northern suburbs spot now boasts a small skate park, as well as a playground and sports facilities. In early 2026, an impressive $1.3m upgrade to Whitfords West Park brought a new pump and jump track to the northern ‘burbs. Found opposite Westfield Whitfords shopping centre, there’s plenty of fun to be had on two wheels, plus there’s a flying fox and playground to cover all bases. The three tracks features a circuit of rollers, berms and jumps for BMX bikes, mountain bikes and scooters, catering to riders of all ages and skill levels. Set in reclaimed parkland alongside Railway Street in Cottesloe, you can find a one of Perth’s newest nature playgrounds, East Cottesloe Nature Play Trail. If you’re chasing a new playground, Rushton Park in Kelmscott is such a good one to have on your list. Found in the Perth Hills foothills, it’s close to bush trails for a pre- or post-play wander. The play equipment (replaced in late 2025), is vibrant and green, with reed-like green poles blending into the riverside spot.  The playground’s glow-up looks fantastic and it’s set up really nicely for a mixed-age crew. Jackadder Lake Playground is a picturesque park just north west of the city. This lovely lakeside spot features a shaded children’s playground, exercise equipment and paths perfect for bikes and scooters.  As of the beginning of August 2023, the playground has been refreshed with new climbing equipment, a new and improved juniors area, and new picnic facilities.  Miss 9 was excited to check out the new play equipment.
