Vellgrove Reserve is a simple yet entertaining park located in Middle Swan. We discovered this quiet, colourful playground after making a wrong turn. My little girl was in love with the colourful stepping logs, so we had to stop for a play. The playground consists of 3 main structures: a wooden swing set, blocks of colourful stepping logs and a rock climbing frame with a slide on the other side. The playground is sand based with not a lot of shade, so definitely bring appropriate sun protection in the hotter months. Find more playgrounds in Perth Read more…

Rotary Park in Wanneroo is one of our favourite playgrounds, the park originally opened in 1979 since then the space has undergone major developments and has been really well cared for by the City of Wanneroo. We especially love the diverse range of equipment and different play opportunity for kids of all ages. The focal piece of the playground is a large wooden play structure that contains 4 slides, a climbing wall, fireman’s pole, climbing nets, shop front, music play and lots more to ignite little imaginations and challenge little adventurers. Making it easy for kids and adults, there are Read more…

Have you checked out Mills Park Skate Plaza? If you have children that love to skate, next time you’re in the area be sure to throw the skateboards and scooters in your car. The skate park is located at the brilliant Mills Park, where there’s also a HUGE play area, lots of grassed space to kick a footy and an excellent café (Fika on Brix) too. The skate park has plenty to keep kids from beginner to advanced level skaters entertained. There’s a lot to encourage kids to work on their skills at the concrete park, and the City of Read more…

McCallum Park is a large, but seemingly underused, park located near that difficult to negotiate junction between Shepperton Road and Canning Hwy. It’s accessed from Taylor St (off Canning Hwy) and there are plenty of parking spaces (some shaded) on both Taylor St. and the adjacent Garland St. Toilets (LHS) and parking on Taylor St. There are male and female toilets on both Taylor and Garland Streets and these were….well…what you would expect in a park. Pretty basic, but clean and functioning. The park itself is huge – plenty of space for an impromptu post-picnic footy or cricket match. BBQ, Read more…

Just a short drive south of Cottesloe, you can find the Dutch Inn Playground located on Marine Parade, near Princes Street. This upgraded playground was completed in 2021, that offers a great range of features and activities for families to enjoy. With its ship-themed play structure, ninja-style obstacle course, and nature-based play area, this playground promises an adventurous experience against a stunning coastal backdrop. The main attraction of the playground is the boat-shaped play structure known as “Warton’s Wreck,” named after the Elizabeth, which ran ashore in 1839. For the maritime history enthusiasts, the remnants of this historic wreck can Read more…

Close to the cafe strip in Mount Lawley, we discovered a lush, green park with a shaded playground, lawn to run on and paths to ride a bike or scooter. The play equipment here includes a traditional playground with various climbing ladders, a fireman pole, a chain bridge for balancing, a twisty slide, monkey bars and a flying fox. Across a brick path, there are also two individual spring rockers shaped like a train and a plane, and a four-way rocker with frogs and horses heads, two toddler swings and two regular swings, a rope net spinner, and ball-shaped spinner. Seacrest Park in Sorrento ticks a lot of boxes for parents and carers. Fully fenced playground – tick. Large range of playground equipment suitable for various ages – tick. A picnic table and seating within the fenced space – double tick. So it’s unsurprising the area can get a little busy, especially after school. But its big, with enough different activities that it doesn’t feel crowded. The play space is predominantly sand, with soft fall around the edge and at the swing set. The main play structure has stairs that toddlers can navigate without much help and a platform to Read more…

Situated on the beach in Amberton Estate, Eglinton, this brand new playground is perfect for toddlers and is also fenced! Whilst not fully fenced, the majority is gated/fenced with the only escape being some wooden logs that leave it open, parents can sit on the grass near the logs through which I did, to catch any little escapees! Overlooking the ocean, the park is at the back of the estate with beautiful views. There is a new staircase down to the water, showers, lots of beautiful green grass and most importantly SHADE 🌳 The playground is fully covered with shade Read more…

As we pulled up to this new playground at Frasers Landing in Mandurah the first word out of both my kid’s mouths was “WOW” – the bright red playground is definitely eye-catching!!! The main play structure replicates a bird’s nest which ties into the naturalistic lifestyle of Frasers Landing. To reach the top children can either use the rock climbing wall, net rope ladder or tree climber ladder. Once at the top of the first platform cross over the wobbly wooden bridge. And up the rope net. At the top of the bird’s nest is a spiral tunnel slide. There Read more…

Gingin is a small and quaint township with a mighty new playground that is jam-packed with features and caters for children of all ages! The playground is nature-based, one of the main features is the Gingin Tower which includes two slides, a rope ladder and bridge. Other nature-based elements include stepping stumps and logs. One of my favourite features is a wind upturned tree windmill – the tree is from a local farmers property. Gingin Outdoor Activity Space has a swing for everyone! Two standard swings, a toddler swing and a birds net swing. As well as a big 360-degree Read more…

Just a short 5 minute walk from Ngarkal Beach and the Port Coogee water park in the new Parkside Retreat estate, you will find this lovely local playground. The slide is attached to an up-ended sea container that has 2 ways of climbing to the top. You can go around to the back and climb the outside to the door. On the inside the climb is a mix of rope bridges and platforms, they may be a challenge for the smaller kids. Sami was very excited to see the flying fox and it wasn’t a disappointment. Augustus Park located in Jane Brook is situated overlooking a beautiful lake. The main play area is mainly made up of ropes which is something different to the usual playground. So if your kids love climbing and hanging this is a park for them. The playground is based on sand and wood chips. Some of the rope equipment which is at the park is rope monkey bars, a wobbly wooden bridge, spider web climbing areas, rope bridges, and balance ropes. There are shade sails covering the playground for extra protection from the sun. There are tables overlooking the lake and Read more…

Adachi Park just off Great Eastern Hwy in Belmont has recently had an upgrade to the play equipment. You might know the park for the little brick house that is located there and can be seen from the highway. We recently stopped by for a play and a wander along the river walking paths. We found this a great little spot with parking, toilets, bbq facilities and covered picnic tables as well as the playground equipment and walkways. The playground is quite small with cubby house and a climbing structure with two slides, seesaw and a birds nest swing. The Read more…

Carine Open Space is one of our local and favourite parks to head to on the weekend as there are oodles to do and see. We usually spend a few hours there if it’s nice weather and take the kids scooters/bikes and the dog. This is a big favourite for dog walkers on the weekend and they sometimes have organised sporting comps on at the weekend so it can get busy at peak times. There’s a pedestrian pathway around the main playground area and then this turns into a dirt road but still great for prams, scooters and bikes and Read more…

Lake Vasto Playground is a popular spot at Ozone Reserve in East Perth. A large gazebo makes it a top location for big family picnics and group gatherings if the weather is looking a bit iffy. The reserve is close to the banks of the Swan River, over the road from the Point Fraser development. The playground is on a soft fall surfaces making it great for toddlers. There’s something for kids of all ages, though with Lake Vasto being so close, be mindful of toddlers playing in the area. The main piece of equipment is a large metal climbing structure which has ropes and ladders and climbing walls to Read more…

Located on the north-west corner of Leatherback Oval in Alkimos Beach is a brand new Bike Safety Course that is sure to be a hit with kids of all ages! The Tom Simpson Park has a new playground (opened July 2018) and is a welcome addition to the grassy Mullaloo foreshore! The rusty, tired old metal play structure on the north end of the park has gone and now there’s a fun-tastic wooden structure, as well as a little nature and water play and a toddler area too. The playground is dominated by a large wooden fort-like structure, best for older kids, as all the ways to the top are via climbing nets. At the top, there is an enclosed tube slide that takes you back down to the sand. Read more…
