There is so much to see and do at Caversham Wildlife Park! Wicca Park is a great park with green grass, lovely large trees, picnic facilities, playground and huge rope climbing structure. It is located in Kewdale not far from the Belmont Forum and Reading Cinemas. The playground is sand based and has swings, slide and climbing frame. The swings are normal swings. The climbing structure has monkey bars, small flying fox and slide. This area is shaded naturally by the trees surrounding it. It was nicely shaded the day we visited. McGiffen Park Alkimos is in a new Alkimos estate perfect for older kids. The park is also perfect if you are after a quieter play. The estate is accessed via only one road, which is still under construction, meaning most people probably don’t actually know of its existence. I actually had to pull over and check I wasn’t driving into a building site. But once you reach the park you realise it’s the perfect spot to let some big kids run wild. Just down the road from Waldecks Stirling is a neat little playground on a leafy street, is Candella Square Playground. This is a well maintained small playground. The main playground structure includes a twisty slide, a curved flying fox, a wooden climbing wall, a climbing pole as well as the usual steps and ladders. Miss 2.5 found a steering wheel and a telescope near the top for imaginative play. There is a climbing tube with a metal ladder and handle holds inside that I don’t think I’ve come across before. Stretton Way Reserve, situated behind Kenwick Village and is one of the shadiest parks I have seen. Shade sails cover the climbing equipment as well as the BBQ area making it good for summer outings. The play equipment has an excellent variety of play equipment including three slides, monkey bars, balancing equipment, various levels of climbing structures, and a basketball hoop. The BBQ area has picnic tables and seats to go with the two free BBQs. It is very well shaded and sits alongside a grassed area perfect for kicking a ball or playing cricket. Today we tried out the new playground at Richardson Park in South Perth, just near the Perth Zoo. We found it to have a good range of equipment for a range of ages and it backs onto a large expanse of grass for ball games or running around. The park is small and narrow but packed with equipment including musical pipes, stainless steel drums, talk tubes, lots of climbing and a big slide. It is a sand based playground. Bicton Baths is a beautiful, family-friendly swimming spot on the Swan River, offering calm, sheltered water and plenty of space for kids to play.
