Looking for a family friendly wineries in Margaret River? Or a perhaps a child friendly winery in the Great Southern wine making region of Western Australia? You’re in luck – many Margaret River and South West wineries are fun for the whole family – not just Mum and Dad. These wineries feature fun playgrounds, indoor play activities and yummy kids menus, giving adults time to enjoy a little wine tasting. Cheers to that!

Swings and Roundabouts, Yallingup
This casual winery is a fantastic spot to find a shady table near the lawn and watch the kids play on the super fun playground. Themed with plenty of wine barrel features and a cute grapevine mural, it’s a huge space for kids to explore tree house wooden forts, boats, a seesaw, spinning barrel, fireman’s pole, lots of climbing, and swings (of course). While they’re busy playing, be sure to enjoy authentic Italian woodfire pizza or share plates over a glass of wine and view of the vineyards. Xanadu, Margaret River
Xanadu, a family friendly Margret River winery, is set in gorgeous surroundings. If you love fine-dining style lunches, Xanadu is a must stop winery for foodie families. There’s bucket loads of class, whilst still keeping a laid-back, unpretentious holiday feel. Featuring award winning Chardonays and more – I’ve never met a bottle of Xanadu I haven’t liked (it’s my favourite). Find out more in the Buggybuddys blog.

Aravina Estate, Yallingup
Aravina Estate is a must stop winery for families in the Margaret River region. It’s quite easy to spend a few hours here, enjoying great food and exploring the stunning grounds. Killerby Wines, Wilyabrup
Can’t decide whether to go to a winery or a brewery? Do both! At Killerby Wines you can enjoy the best of both worlds. Visit the cellar door for a tasting, then head to the adjoining Cheeky Monkey Brewery too. The kid’s playground is gated and covered by shade sails, plus there’s a fun nature play area too. Happs Winery, Dunsborough
Happs Winery is found in native bush, just south of Dunsborough. This laid-back spot is not only home to some of my favourite drops, but it has a pottery with some stunning pieces fired right here in the Happs kilns. While kids will be under strict “no touching” orders in the pottery, outside there are vast lawns to run and play. There is a jetty-style play structure with wobbly bridge which kids are sure to enjoy climbing on. Find out more in the Buggybuddys blog.

Fishbone, Wilyabrup
Fishbone Wines pairs top-notch wine with modern Japanese cuisine, making for a delicious lunch with the fam. This moder spot is found directly opposite the famous Margaret River Chocolate Factory, and close to super fun soccer golf at the Golf Gardens. The kids’ menu is also properly thought out, moving beyond the usual chips etc (though they have those too for those kiddos who are not adventurous with Asian cuisine). There’s no playground here, but colouring sheets should keep little hands from being restless and there’s lots of lawn for handstands too. Find out more in the Buggybuddys blog.
Berry Farm, Margaret River
The Berry Farm has a cellar door, brimming with berry and fruit jams, jellies, preserves, sauces, and wines to taste. Afterwards, why not eat something delicious or have a Devonshire Tea at the cottage café, which overlooks a playground.

Hay Shed Hill, Wilyabrup
At Rustico at Hay Shed Hill (the sister restaurant of the popular Rustico in Rockingham) you can dine al fresco on the covered deck or inside. Children are welcome, with a kid’s menu and highchairs available. Kids can enjoy a slightly Spanish twist on a normal children’s menu – think cheese croquettes or tempura fish with bravas. Cullen Winery, Wilyabrup
The winery’s restaurant overlooks vineyards, making it a lovely place to enjoy a top notch lunch. The food is outstanding, and it’s a good idea to head to the cellar door before lunch for a tasting, to help choose just which wine to enjoy with lunch! Find out more in the Buggybuddys blog.

House Of Cards, Yallingup
This is a great spot to stop. Kids can run around on the expansive lawns or play with the ball sports and puzzles provided on the House of Cards deck, which often has live music playing on Sunday afternoons. Great Southern and Other Family Friendly WA Wineries
Willoughby Park Winery, Denmark
Willoughby Park Winery at Boston Brewery is a fantastic family spot in Denmark. Taste wines at the cellar door and then enjoy a glass or two on the lawn, as the kids play in the big, shaded play area surrounded by vines. The food at adjoining Boston Brewery is delicious too! Bartholomews Meadery, Denmark
The Denmark area is renowned for their excellent wineries, though Bartholomew’s Meadery makes mead (or honey wine), the world’s oldest alcoholic drink. The meadery is well worth a visit for families. At the cellar door you can see the bees at work in a hive, as well as taste the various types of meads on offer. The kids will enjoy the house made honey ice creams. Hidden River Estate, Pemberton
If you are in Pemberton, Hidden River Estate is a great place to enjoy a family lunch is the. The grounds at Hidden River Estate are something special. Every child will love eating their meal in the old tram carriage that has been converted into a dining area and adjoins the winery.

Pepper & Salt, Denmark
Pepper and Salt restaurant, found at Forest Hill Vineyard, has a stunning view over green rolling hills and valley. There’s excellent food and wine as well as endless things for the kids to explore outside; grape vines, forest and copious amounts of grass fields.

Whether you’re a Chardy lover like me, or love to sip on a shiraz, if you’re visiting a winery with kids in tow it will always taste better if they are well occupied.
