A few weeks ago I surprised my daughter with a horse ride along the beach for her 9th birthday! The Wanneroo Riding Centre organises Beach Rides during school holidays and various times throughout the year, and all rides take place at Whitfords Beach, 25km north of Perth.
We arrived for our ride at 9:30am. All beach rides run for half an hour which was more than enough time, as the ride is a bareback horse ride. After meeting her horse, Matilda hopped on and was guided along the beautiful white sandy beach, the smile on her face as she rode was priceless and the parents all got to take photos and watch. There was approx 4 horses in the group at the same time.
After a few laps of the beach it was time to head into the water on her horse. The water was beautiful and calm, and Matilda squealed in excitement as the water reached her and they went further out. The horses and kids all loved this part of the ride and it was a beautiful experience to watch!
After about 10 minutes on her horse in the water the ride was over and she said goodbye to the lovely staff.
The beach rides are definitely a beautiful bucket list experience. The minimum age is 5yrs and max weight 100kg. I highly recommend wearing bathers or clothes you don’t mind getting wet! No experience is required and they make the perfect gift idea!
