Nestled just behind the Subiaco Arts Centre, Subiaco Theatre Gardens Playspace is a lovely oasis of grass, trees, and nature play. A fountain that creates a trickling brook runs down the centre of the park. Children are invited to build damns to block the water, and then lift the hatches to release it. At the end of the brook is a sandpit, perfect for playing with trucks or dipping your toes. The park has a great climbing structure with ropes, monkey bars, and balancing beams. Along the lines of the theatre theme, there is a Read more…

We discovered this great little park just around the corner from Little Banksia Cafe in Kensington. It has a lot of features including a nature play area and playground. The main play area is covered with shade sails and the nature play area is shaded naturally. The afternoon we went was warm so the natural shade and trees around the park were lovely. The playground area is sand based and has a good range of equipment. It has a double swing, one toddler and one normal and a bouncy balance board. There is a monkey bar activity for large older Read more…

The Caterpillar Playground is a favourite amongst families in Mandurah. Parents love it due to the fact it is enclosed and kids love it because there is so much to do. Also known as Milgar Street Reserve, the Caterpillar Playground is easily accessible via Park Road with plenty of parking available. Access is also available via Reserve Drive for those on foot. Be wary on weekends though, it is situated next door to the BMX track so can be a little hard to find parking. I have some new additions I hope you will love. This year I’ve decided to do a “community tree” which is a handmade tree and when you stop by you can pick up a wooden ornament, take it home and decorate it and drop it back into the drop box. Each day I’ll drill the ornaments onto the tree so everyone in the community can see them You’re also welcome to come grab photos with the Bluey family, Olaf ect. Kadidjiny Park, Melville Kadidjiny Park, also known as The Dr Seuss playground, is located in the suburb of Melville. With sensory elements, swings and slides, a picnic area and more, this park has something for the whole family. The playground is very different to your traditional playground. There are no multi-purpose climbing frames. Instead there is more of a focus on ‘nature play’. What makes Kadidjiny Park so different are the hill mounds that make up the play area and make you feel as though you are in Teletubby land! My Miss 8 enjoyed running up and down these, Read more…

John Oldham Park is a bit of a hidden gem and the last place you would expect alongside a busy freeway intersection so close to the city, but once you have found it you will often find that you have the place to yourself, except for the odd cyclist on the path down to the Mounts Bay Road.
