Neil Hawkins Park in Joondalup is a park more suited to the under 5โs. The playground is partially enclosed and is quite compact and easy to keep track of little ones. It features play equipment in the guise of a train engine and its carriages with each carriage providing a different feature. Canning River Regional Park is a large park and wetlands area covering about 6kms located around the Canning River. We usually go to the Kent St Weir area which also has the Canning River Cafe there but recently we discovered another playground a short walk away. Stretton Way Reserve, situated behind Kenwick Village and is one of the shadiest parks I have seen. Shade sails cover the climbing equipment as well as the BBQ area making it good for summer outings. The play equipment has an excellent variety of play equipment including three slides, monkey bars, balancing equipment, various levels of climbing structures, and a basketball hoop. Hyde Park water playground is a fantastic spot to go and cool off in those warmer months. The water park has recently undergone an upgrade and now has new shade sails installed over the entire splash pad area. There is plenty of shade around the park also due to the large trees that are scattered all around. We visited Christmas eve and were expecting it to be really busy, but we were quite surprised as we managed to findย a lovely spot under a tree (right near the splash pad) and have a picnic lunch.
