Adventure Tower Park is the star of the newest playground in the Calleya Estate Banjup. With footy posts, a large grassed area, free gas BBQ’s and sheltered seating, it is a great location for burn off some extra energy. The main feature of the playground is a huge 8 metre adventure tower! There are metal ladders to get you to the bottom of the tower where there is a smaller slide for the littlies and then the only way up to the twisty slide is a rope ladder. Garvey Park is a great local park just at the end of Fauntleroy Avenue on the river’s edge in Ascot. The kids love the playground as it has something to suit both my sensible 5 year old and my adventurous almost 3 year old! The play equipment is all on sand with a large sail shade over most of the equipment which is great in the warmer months. Peet Park in Kewdale has recently had an upgrade with brand new playground equipment. The new equipment is suitable for all ages and includes three slides, lots of climbing fun, see-saw and merry-go-round. There are also swings, including one toddler swing. All the equipment is on bright colourful soft fall base and was shaded nicely by large trees. The playground is adjacent to the community centre, large oval and cricket nets so plenty of space for ball games or running around as well. There are public toilets and a drinking fountain. Lake Leschenaultia is a man-made lake situated in the country town of Chidlow, 50 minutes drive from Perth City. CY O’Connor Hub Playground is a lovely drive to Mundaring Weir, through Perth’s Hills. You can get there from Kalamunda or Mundaring. Not only is the huge dam essential to WA’s water supply, but it’s a lovely spot for a family picnic. Kids just love a skate park, though some of the larger spots can be teeming with older and faster kids. The brilliant Madox Playground and Pumptrack in Forrestdale has a smaller bowl than you’d usually find at a skate park – perfect for beginners – as well as a great little playground. As we pulled up to this new playground at Frasers Landing in Mandurah the first word out of both my kid’s mouths was “WOW” – the bright red playground is definitely eye-catching!!! The main play structure replicates a bird’s nest which ties into the naturalistic lifestyle of Frasers Landing. Just off of Main Street in Balcatta is Conway Reserve, a bright, colourful playground surrounded by a grassy park. Conway Reserve is partially fenced with a path running from Harrison Street to Archibald Street, and a large grassed area for ball games or exercising the dog. Dianella Open Space playground is a great play area for kids of all ages with a huge amount of different and challenging activities to keep every kid entertained for hours! Jubilee Reserve, Eden Hill Jubilee Reserve is a multi-use reserve with a great playground located in Eden Hill. With play equipment suitable for toddlers to tweens, this shaded, sand-free playground is sure to be a hit. On arrival, Miss 4.5 bolted straight for the climbing ropes. Cheltondale Park is a gorgeous little park, with two innovative playground areas, which has recently sprung up in the suburb of Madeley in the City of Wanneroo. The park is filled with over 100 mature trees and bountiful natural bush areas, as well as green lawns ideal for picnics under the shade of the trees. There’s many fun elements to this playground including a traditional play structure and a little nature play too. And good news if you’ve just cleaned your car… there’s no sand! Set right in the middle of the new, vibrant dining and entertainment precinct at Westfield Whitford City is a beautifully unique play area for children. Overlooked by many of the restaurants and sheltered underneath shade sails, the play area is unlike any I’ve ever seen before. I live nowhere near Whitby but after seeing some pictures online of their nature-based playground I knew I had to visit – the playground opened in mid 2016 and is very unique. Whitby playground is located 40 minutes South-East of Perth. The playground borders a nature walk trail so there is plenty of things to see and explore. Halliday Park is a quiet park with lots of open green space located behind The Bayswater Hotel. The park is named after an early Bayswater settler, Henry Thomas Halliday, and as of May 2018 the playground area has undergone an upgrade with a new play structure and fresh sand now in place. Karrinyup Shopping Centre is home to Perth’s newest super playground! The Cubby is a 950sqm play space located at the new West Deck which is part of Karrinyup’s impressive $800 million redevelopment. This shipwreck-themed playground which opened in March 2018 is one of twenty parks planned within the in the thriving Yanchep Golf Estate! Perfect for toddlers and kids under 10, it certainly ticks a lot of boxes, and this is only stage one of the two-hectare park.
