The main feature of the playground is the ‘Tree of Life’, which is an 8m high climbing structure with tunnel slides. Found in a new inner city housing estate, Montario Playground in Shenton Playground is wonderful place to let the kids explore. There’s lots of fun and fantastical elements packed into this compact playground including some “Alice in Wonderland” style giant toadstools and even some giant eggs. Calleya Grandis playground is packed full of features suitable for all ages. The extensive climbing rope structure provides a great ninja course or a “Floor is Lava” challenge. The Northern Suburbs have given us yet another fantastic park! At the Amberton Estate in Eglington, you’ll find the new park Heath Park also known as the Amberton Scooter Park and Pirate Playground. The park is a fair distance from the road and car park, about 100 meters, which makes it ideal for younger children not playing close to traffic. The biggest attraction of this park HAS to be the scooter park. A dedicated scooter track is an excellent idea and is similar to a scaled down skate park – perfect for younger children. The new Shelley Beach playground is a great playground to visit. It’s right on the river, and around the enclosed playground is plenty of grass to kick a ball on, BBQs and gazebos and, of course, the beautiful river. My 10-year-old was impressed with the park, especially the X-park obstacle course. The course is set up with a starting point and different obstacles throughout, including climbing, balancing and swinging. We had an absolute blast at Bathers Park, the newest addition to Alkimos Beach. Nestled alongside the Alkimos Beach foreshore, Bathers Park stretches across 2.5 hectares at the ocean end of Leatherback Boulevard. This vibrant beach-themed was an instant hit with my kids and completely captured their imaginations! The highlight of our visit was the impressive surf rescue play tower, soaring seven meters high. The much awaited Akimos Beach Fitness Park is now open! If you are into fitness, then this park has it all. It features a “ freeletics “ area where you train with your own body weight, and also an area to practice parkour ( Miss 7 loved this ). Perth’s newest inner-city playground, Wellington Square Playground, has just opened! Koolangka Koolangka Waabiny means children’s playground in Whadjuk Nyoongar. WA’s native Banksia plant theme can be spotted throughout the vast play space. The colourful floating disc above the playground not only provides shade but also reflect the stars and sky from Dreamtime stories. After over four years in the making, the 9 million dollar redevelopment of Shirley Strickland Reserve is complete! The dog-friendly sporting reserve is now home to a state-of-the-art Sport and Community Pavilion, a fantastic nature playground, fitness equipment and cycle/walking paths. The main feature of the playground is the enormous wooden multilevel climbing structure with a bright lime green slide. Found in the heart of a new housing estate, Mason Green Park in Piara Waters is a brilliant spot for a play. There’s lots of fun elements packed into this compact playground including a little nature play, as well as thinks to keep active and fit. The wooden play equipment is partly shaded by shade sails and built on a mix of woodchip and soft fall base. And there’s lots to explore… There’s a nest swing, perfect for lounging around in! Hesperia Park in Ellenbrook is a fantastic new playground that features a big slide and 7 meter high lookout tower! As well as the playground, the park has plenty of grass with a big kick about area, shady spots, an exercise zone, nature play and lots of footpaths, perfect for a scoot. Lake Monger is now home to an exciting new adventure playground! The playground has been specifically designed for children over the age of 5 who love a challenge! Kalamunda’s Stirk Park was a favourite of mine, back in the 80s when I was growing up in the Perth Hills. The park has long been a popular location for mothers group get-togethers and family picnics. The snazzy new playground and skate park at Stirk Park has just opened (Nov 2023) after a long-awaited redevelopment. This large playground with a mix of nature play, water play and traditional play equipment has something for everyone to enjoy. Clarkson Reserve, Maylands Clarkson Reserve is a hidden gem in the leafy suburb of Maylands. It features a small nature playground, bike and scooter paths and gorgeous river views. On arriving, Miss 4 raced to the play area. This is mostly sand-based and features wooden balancing beams and flat logs to hop across. Considering Wanneroo is built on old market garden land, it is very fitting that the recently upgraded Frederick Duffy Park is farming themed. This great little park has something for everyone. Whitfords Nodes Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hillarys which has been dubbed Jacob’s Ladder of the North due to the 21m fitness staircase opened in September 2019. The multipurpose fitness hub is not only for fitness junkies, it also a great spot for families to stay fit and active together. Located hillside of City Beach Oval is a BRAND NEW playground full of personality and adventure! The highlight for the kids was definitely twin mirrored hill racing slides! Although fast they are suitable for most ages, and big enough for us parents to take our little ones down! The nature-based playground also includes a variety of balancing and stepping logs. It is situated in the shadow of the Mt Henry Bridge, and has a great kids playground and an on-site cafe. The first thing we did on arriving was grab some lunch at the Kerbside Cafe. We recently stopped at the new Ernest Johnson Reserve playground in South Perth. This is a great little playground with plenty for mixed ages, a large oval and bbq facilities. There is also a carpark with plenty of parking. The space is suitable for dogs with a drinking fountain and doggy bowl but dogs must stay out the playground. The playground area is spread out into about four separate areas. Each area does have benches or seating nearby parents can easily supervise their kids play.
