The UFO-inspired Bob Gordon Reserve Play Space is out-of-this-world fun! The fully fenced playground features everything from UFOs, swings, flying foxes, slides, and water play to all the essentials like toilets, BBQs, picnic shelters, shade and ample parking.
The main feature and the inspiration for the playground is the replica of the old Leach Highway Spaceship, Futuro House, which I’m sure parents and grandparents from the 70s and 80s will remember fondly!
The new Futuro features a small slide, fireman pole and is fully wheelchair accessible. Inside, you’ll find control panels, speaking tubes, finger mazes, and alien noughts and crosses. The interactive activities are at varying heights to allow for inclusive play.
There’s lots of play equipment, such as monkey bars, a space spinner, a seesaw, and a funky space rocker in the sand surrounding Futuro.
A highlight for my boys was the double flying fox that features a pommel seat and an all-abilities harness seat.
There’s no shortage of swings at Bob Gordon Reserve Play Space… and there’s a great variety to choose from, including a challenging surfboard swing, a traditional swing, a parent/toddler swing, a birds nest swing, a toddler/baby swing and two viking snake swings.
Another highlight of the playground is the elevated space station with a big tunnel slide. It is a bit of a challenge for little kids to climb (great for kids 6+), but there will be no wiping the smile off their face once they’ve mastered it!
And, of course, the boys loved having a good splash in the space-themed water play zone!
Within the gates at Bob Gordon Reserve Play Space, there are toilets with baby change facilities, BBQs, picnic shelters and grassed areas to lay out a picnic rug.
Outside the gates, you’ll find fitness equipment, a half basketball court, the Southside BMX track and the Bullcreek Tennis Club, where you can hire a court for a small fee.
My boys had the best time at Bob Gordon Reserve Play Space, it is the type of playground kids will never want to leave!
