Luminous Park is a “super fun” new playground that has everything (minus toilets) and is the third amazing great play space for the lucky residents of the vibrant Iluma Private Estate in Bennett Springs. Augustus Park located in Jane Brook is situated overlooking a beautiful lake. The main play area is mainly made up of ropes which is something different to the usual playground. So if your kids love climbing and hanging this is a park for them. The playground is based on sand and wood chips. Wyong Reserve in Bentley is a great little park with a lot going on. The playground is fully fenced and has a pathway running around it that is designed as a road to ride scooters and bikes along. There a few large speed humps, and we said next time we come we will have to bring the scooter. There are benches around the playground and an undercover area with BBQs and picnic benches. Conservation Wetlands Park, located in the Ariella Estate in Brabham has recently opened a new nature play area which is perfect for younger children. Treehouse Cove Playground is Golden Bay’s newest playground. The treehouse-inspired playground opened in July 2022 and features nature-based play elements, slides, seesaws, a toddler play space, lots of open turf areas and picnic and BBQ facilities. John MacMillan Park next to the library in Victoria Park has just reopened with a brand new nature playground, basketball courts, open grass and more. The new equipment has been designed around the lovely trees giving it a nice combination of natural shade and shade sails. There are toilets conveniently located behind the basketball area. This fantastic playground & recreation space can be found in the new Mojo Urban Living estate in Cockburn Central. The playground is a great mix of nature play amongst traditional equipment with a combination of soft fall, sand and wood chip ground cover. The Mokare Reserve Adventure Playground has something to offer for all ages! Adults and kids will both enjoy climbing the 12m treehouse tower to reach the slide. Northern Parklands is a brand new playground as part of a redevelopment in Bentley. The parklands were created with the input of local school children and teachers and the outcome was a play space that is quite different from the norm. There’s a street games strip which is such a great idea and includes hopscotch, noughts and crosses, basketball and netball, a climbing frame mini obstacle course and mini skateboarding course. We recently stopped at the new Ernest Johnson Reserve playground in South Perth. This is a great little playground with plenty for mixed ages, a large oval and bbq facilities. There is also a carpark with plenty of parking. The space is suitable for dogs with a drinking fountain and doggy bowl but dogs must stay out the playground. The playground area is spread out into about four separate areas. Each area does have benches or seating nearby parents can easily supervise their kids play. Considering Wanneroo is built on old market garden land, it is very fitting that the recently upgraded Frederick Duffy Park is farming themed. This great little park has something for everyone. Set amongst mature gum trees the park has plenty of shade for playing and picnics. At the centre of the park is a big gazebo with a BBQ, picnic tables and a water fountain. Rossiter Pavilion and Playing Fields in Piara Waters, in the Holland Park Estate, boasts a small playground packed with natureplay and adventure for curious, energetic kids. The first part to grab Miss 4’s attention was the three in-ground trampolines in the middle of the playground. Sandy Beach Reserve is one of Bassendean’s most well-known natural open spaces. It now has one of the most impressive playgrounds I’ve seen. Sandy Beach Playspace has been created for children of all ages, with play equipment and nature elements for everyone to enjoy. Located at the end of West Road Bassendean, right on the Swan River, this large reserve area includes both open grassed areas and tree-shaded areas, with the original trees surrounding the playground. Located across from the WA Museum Boola Bardip is the Perth Cultural Centre Playspace, a quirky little play space which has a heavy focus on sensory play. The Playspace is fully fenced and gated and it is open daily from 8am – 7pm. It is recommended that the playspace is suitable most for children aged 6 – 13 years but children under that age can get a lot out of it too. Found besides the waters of Lake Claremont is a small, but lovely nature playground. The newish play area opened in July 2018 and has been designed for primary school aged kids, though little ones will love the sand play! The main fort structure is suitable for older kids, as it is made up of wooden steps and rope to climb up to the top. Canning River Regional Park is a large park and wetlands area covering about 6kms located around the Canning River. We usually go to the Kent St Weir area which also has the Canning River Cafe there but recently we discovered another playground a short walk away. This new playground has been designed based on feedback from the community and includes nature and adventure play and plenty of natural shade. Botany Park located in Hammond Park has just undergone a fantastic upgrade. It is now toddler-friendly fully fenced with various pool gate entry points. The original playground equipment still exists and features a bumpy slide, rock climbing wall, twisty ladder and swing seats. Britannia Reserve Pump Track Britannia Reserve Pump Track is a 1.2km pump track and nature bike trail in Leederville. Close to the city, it’s a great spot to take active kids of all ages out riding. Britannia Reserve Pump Track was originally installed as part of a Pop-Up Play initiative in April 2019. It has quickly become a permanent fixture. Strive Park, Girrawheen Strive Park is a small park located in the Blackmore Park Estate, in Girrawheen. The playground here features nature play elements, some traditional play elements, and a bike and scooter track. It’s sure to be a hit with the kids! Holland Park in Piara Waters is yet another brilliant playground in the popular family suburb. There’s lots of elements packed into this park including nature play, as well as a fun fort! The wooden play equipment is built on woodchip, giving the space a rustic vibe and there’s a sandpit too. Lake Monger is now home to an exciting new adventure playground! The playground has been specifically designed for children over the age of 5 who love a challenge! Fontana Park is a brand new (April 2022) little park is hidden away in Trinity Estate, Alkimos. Whilst not big, it kept my 3 children busy for easily over an hour. There is a huge log swing which they loved and lots of room for everyone! The rock climbing wall was popular with my younger 2 children, which takes you up to the epic slide! The new Palmerston Square playground in Bassendean is NOW OPEN and ready to be explored! The old playground equipment has been replaced by a beautiful wooden playground. The environment is a really lovely green space, with shade from the many trees that have been planted, plus the existing established trees. Lincoln Road Reserve in Forrestfield has had a recent upgrade adding nature play, ninja course and double flying fox to the existing play equipment. The double flying fox has a seat with a harness and the disc-style. The flying fox is quite long and as always we spent quite a bit of time on here. After over four years in the making, the 9 million dollar redevelopment of Shirley Strickland Reserve is complete! The dog-friendly sporting reserve is now home to a state-of-the-art Sport and Community Pavilion, a fantastic nature playground, fitness equipment and cycle/walking paths. This brand new nature adventure playground is located right next to the Coolbellup Skate Park just behind the Coolbellup Public Library.
