Britannia Reserve Pump Track
Britannia Reserve Pump Track is a 1.2km pump track and nature bike trail in Leederville. Close to the city, it’s a great spot to take active kids of all ages out riding.
Britannia Reserve Pump Track was originally installed as part of a Pop-Up Play initiative in April 2019. It has quickly become a permanent fixture. Britannia Reserve is one of City of Vincent’s largest open parklands. The pump track was created using natural materials. It is a space for children of all ages to meet their friends, ride their bikes and enjoy the outdoors.
Most of the pump track and nature trail is under cover of trees. The track was built at the back of the reserve, adjacent to the Mitchell Freeway. High fences separate the track from busy road, keeping little ones safe.
The track follows adjacent to the Freeway. The trees shade the majority.
Twists and turns through the trees make it a fun ride, especially if your kids are little daredevils who like to skid and kick up dust. There are jumps made up of gravel bumps.
In addition to the dirt track, sealed paths lap around Britannia Reserve. These are perfect for kids learning to ride or for scootering, or for just taking a walk. We tried scootering on the dirt track. It didn’t work so well.
During our visit, we also discovered a small fenced playground. This features a rope net and a birds nest swing, in addition to some spinners and spring rockers. This has a sand and rubber soft fall base. This is not fully shaded. However there are tall mature trees surrounding that provide shade for most of the day.
There is also a huge oval and cricket nets here. Perfect for having a kick around or for practicing your bowling and batting skills.
We had a great ride and walk here. I’d recommend bringing hats and sunscreen, and closed in shoes. We’d definitely head back for another ride.
