Northern Parklands is a brand new playground as part of a redevelopment in Bentley.
The parklands were created with the input of local school children and teachers and the outcome was a play space that is quite different from the norm.
There’s a street games strip which is such a great idea and includes hopscotch, noughts and crosses, basketball and netball, a climbing frame mini obstacle course and mini skateboarding course.
There’s also a nature play area which includes a flying fox and a nest swing.
My favourites were the running track and learn to cycle course! It was a hot day when we went but we’ll definitely be back for some bike riding and running races!
The stand out structure, that all the kids gravitated towards, was the rope crows nest climbing structure.
There’s also a large grassed area which is perfect for a picnic and some ball games.
We had a great time at this park and loved that it offered something different!
Northern parklands is located at 25 Taree Street, Bentley.

1 Review on “Northern Parklands, Bentley”
The initial review sounds like it was written by a party associated with Dept of Communities, which built the park but chose not to consult widely. I find the park an overall limited offering for the million + price tag listed in its development application to council. There is a lack of shade over children’s facilities for most of the day, and the “outdoor classroom” seems to be a piece of tarmac with two locked seatainers – no shade, no seats. There are no toilets, little for adults and virtually nothing for people with disabilities, which is disappointing considering the state government built the park. It is used by some as a shortcut to get from one side of Bentley to the other as it allows you to bypass a hill climb otherwise. The govt is paying consultants to hold regular activities, ie, painting but otherwise it doesn’t seem to attract a lot of people although this might change as the weather cools. A re-think of the shade offerings would bring it up to modern standards, as would improving the very basic exercise facilities and being demonstratively more inclusive of people with disabilities, ie, more play equipment and disability-certified exercise equipment.
Hi, I wrote the review and definitely not associated with department of communities. We simply enjoyed this playground. It may not be the best around but I loved the focus on childhood games and play. It’s nice to have different options around ☺️
