Kids love a good scooter and bike park! Children get to practise their riding in a safe environment. Many have great features such as simulated roads with stop signs and petrol pumps. Great for imaginative play! Plus you can start teaching some bike safety skills. Others are more challenging with pump tracks and jumps.
In addition, we’ve added details of where playgrounds are close to local coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. Therefore you can grab a bite to eat before or after your play, or grab a takeaway coffee on the way. Don’t forget your reusable coffee mug! 😉

Luminous Park is a “super fun” new playground that has everything (minus toilets) and is the third amazing great play space for the lucky residents of the vibrant Iluma Private Estate in Bennett Springs. Strive Park, Girrawheen Strive Park is a small park located in the Blackmore Park Estate, in Girrawheen. The playground here features nature play elements, some traditional play elements, and a bike and scooter track. It’s sure to be a hit with the kids! Mirror Park in Ocean Reef is a large oval field and play area consisting of a playground suitable for toddlers, a skate park and toilet block. Parking surrounds the oval as well as set off from the main road in front of the playground. It’s not fenced or shaded so not suitable for toddlers prone to running off or during the height of summer. Marri Park is a great little spot to take the kids to burn off some extra energy. This park is also dog-friendly, so you could even bring your fur baby along. There is a large grass oval with soccer goals at the top end of the park, so don’t forget your ball for a kick around. The Eden Beach Lookout and Playspace is a brand new section of Eden Beach estate in Jindalee has just opened (Dec 2021) and it’s great for the older kids! Featuring a basketball court, rock climbing wall, parkour, skate/scooter ramps and a huge grassy area it’s a beautiful spot to spend a few hours. Banks Reserve is located in Mouth Lawley on the banks of the Swan River, the play space is bearly recognisable after an extensive redevelopment. The new nature-based playground has been cleverly designed around the huge preexisting trees which offer plenty of shade! My kids and I visit a lot of playgrounds… but the brand new Wandi Playing Fields Playground is hands down our favourite playground in Perth (big call right!) – while there is no crazy slide or huge tower, there is lots of different play areas and something for kids of all ages and abilities! On a recent road trip, we took a detour through Northam, the detour was originally to check out the Northam Suspension Bridge, which is one of the longest pedestrian bridges in Australia. After crossing the bridge, which was well worth the visit (until the kids thought it was fun to make it sway), we discovered Bernard Park which features two fully fenced play areas, a water playground, sculptures, amphitheatre, picnic and BBQ facilities and public toilets. Vale Adventure Park is Aveley’s newest playground, located on Egerton Drive it is walking distance to the local IGA and cafes, including a favourite of mine Mecca Gourmet. As we arrived my oldest children ran straight to the dual flying fox, they were all smiles racing each other to the end. Iluka Foreshore Park has a brand new nautical themed nature playground that kids of all ages are guaranteed to love! Iluka Foreshore Park is separated into three sections, the first consists of a wooden boat, it was perfect for my toddler to play on, he loved steering the boat and climbing the steps to the slide. Pioneer Park is an unusual playspace situated next to the Canning River in Gosnells. The playground is below street level and you enter via a ‘tree top’ long walkway which is pram friendly and great fun for scooting down. Herdsman Lake Regional Park is a great location for a family walk, play and picnic. There are 2 playgrounds around the lake, one at Glendalough Open Space and the other at Popeye Lake Parkland. Glendalough Open Space is a lovely little play area with parking directly next to it off the main road access. This area has swings, seesaw, flying fox, slides and numerous climbing frames to entertain kids of all ages. Britannia Reserve Pump Track Britannia Reserve Pump Track is a 1.2km pump track and nature bike trail in Leederville. Close to the city, it’s a great spot to take active kids of all ages out riding. Britannia Reserve Pump Track was originally installed as part of a Pop-Up Play initiative in April 2019. It has quickly become a permanent fixture. Britannia Reserve is one of City of Vincent’s largest open parklands. The pump track was created using natural materials. Carine Open Space is one of our local and favourite parks to head to on the weekend as there are oodles to do and see. We usually spend a few hours there if it’s nice weather and take the kids scooters/bikes and the dog. This is a big favourite for dog walkers on the weekend and they sometimes have organised sporting comps on at the weekend so it can get busy at peak times. Allure North Park is the latest playground in the Calleya Estate, Treeby and it does not disappoint. The main attraction is the Junior BMX Pump Track that is enjoyed by BMX riders, general bike riders, skateboarders and those on scooters! My 8yr old tested out the track on her bicycle and gave it the big thumbs up! Located just around Harrisdale Nature Reserve, Harrisdale Green Sensory Park is the all-new interactive sensory park for children of all abilities at the new Harrisdale Green Estate. Perth’s newest inner-city playground, Wellington Square Playground, has just opened! Koolangka Koolangka Waabiny means children’s playground in Whadjuk Nyoongar. WA’s native Banksia plant theme can be spotted throughout the vast play space. The City of Gosnells has unveiled its latest inclusive play space at Sutherlands Park in Huntingdale. Calling all climbers! The recently revamped play space at Flinders Park in Hillarys is ideal for kids who love a challenge. The playground reopened several months ago and now boasts various rope ladders and climbing frames, plus balance and stepping logs for kids to test their agility. Willespie Park includes a good sized playground with equipment to suit a range of children. Unfortunately, the playground isn’t shaded so bring along sunscreen and a hat. Piney Lakes Reserve Sensory Play Park in Winthrop is located on Murdoch Drive just off Leach Highway. As you walk through the main entrance of the playground there is a lighthouse painted by local artist Brenton See overlooking the sand and water play areas. Neil McDougall Park is a leafy park with a great playground for kids of all ages in the heart of Como. The first thing that grabbed Miss 3’s attention when we arrived here was the flying fox. Richard Aldersea Park is situated among the leafy streets of Clarkson, just behind Clarkson Primary School. Little Miss and I discovered it while out for a drive, and found its suitable for a range of ages and abilities, from toddlers upwards. The main play structure has two slides, and lots to climb. Just a short 5 minute walk from Ngarkal Beach and the Port Coogee water park in the new Parkside Retreat estate, you will find this lovely local playground. The slide is attached to an up-ended sea container that has 2 ways of climbing to the top. You can go around to the back and climb the outside to the door. Lake Monger Reserve is a fantastic destination for a family walk in Perth with kids of all ages. There are a few parking spots around Lake Monger Reserve, 3 of which are on Lake Monger Drive. If you use the car park nearest St Vincents Avenue you’ll see a wishing well and the largest playground in the reserve. Booyeembara Park located on Montreal Street in Fremantle is gorgeous parkland with plenty of open space, bush land, walking circuits and a central man-made lake. Located within the park is a small quirky playground. The centre piece of the playground is an unusual 5 way swing. The swings are designed for children aged 6 – 12 years.
