Neil McDougall Park is a leafy park with a great playground for kids of all ages in the heart of Como. The first thing that grabbed Miss 3’s attention when we arrived here was the flying fox. Clarkson Reserve, Maylands Clarkson Reserve is a hidden gem in the leafy suburb of Maylands. It features a small nature playground, bike and scooter paths and gorgeous river views. McCallum Park is a large, but seemingly underused, park located near that difficult to negotiate junction between Shepperton Road and Canning Hwy. It’s accessed from Taylor St (off Canning Hwy) and there are plenty of parking spaces (some shaded) on both Taylor St. and the adjacent Garland St. Toilets (LHS) and parking on Taylor St. There are male and female toilets on both Taylor and Garland Streets and these were….well…what you would expect in a park. On a recent road trip, we took a detour through Northam, the detour was originally to check out the Northam Suspension Bridge, which is one of the longest pedestrian bridges in Australia. After crossing the bridge, which was well worth the visit (until the kids thought it was fun to make it sway), we discovered Bernard Park which features two fully fenced play areas, a water playground, sculptures, amphitheatre, picnic and BBQ facilities and public toilets.
