The Tradewinds Hotel is looking shmick these days and is the perfect place for a “staycation” in the bustling heart of quaint East Freo.
It’s had a very elaborate nip and tuck with stylish upgrades peaking out from every corner and finishings that are not just cosmetic, but functionally appeasing.
We had an overnight stay and could not fault a thing. Our room was perfect with plenty of natural light, privacy and even glimpses of the harbour!
The room had everything we needed plus a few extra touches like a pillow menu, small kitchenette and free wifi that could also be accessed at the Tradewinds Bistro…
…and a welcome message on the telly! (It’s the little things!)
Walking to and from our room was a joy with great views of the pool and just a level down was the rooftop terrace, impressive during the day…
and night.
There was no bar or food facilities on this level, however, patrons are welcome to enjoy the spectacular views. They also hold lots of private and public functions throughout the year. Check them out here
Plenty of seating options including tables, chairs with ample shade…
…and some luxurious daybeds, fantastic for relaxing with a good book while your toddler crawls all over you trying to eat the pages.
But let’s return to the pool and the four million photos taken!
Great size and plenty of space for kids and big kids to splash about and who doesn’t love a giant blow up swan…or two!
There is heaps of seating poolside and you can even book a room on the pool level for easy access dipping! Don’t worry if you have little ones, there is safety glass surrounding the entire pool space.
Further up from the pool is a lovely alfresco section with tables and chairs to enjoy a sunset drink or a cuppa and still keep an eye on the kids from the sidelines.
A family friendly establishment, the Tradewinds often has specials, their latest – The “Modern Family”. This package includes 2 bed apartment set up with a teepee and board games as well as complimentary in-house movies with popcorn and a $100 food and beverage credit (pizzas!). And the parent holy grail – a 1pm late check out to relax and enjoy that laughable term – “sleeping in”. Most parents will probably spend those extra precious hours packing up and herding everyone to the car!
Plenty of nearby eateries to find on foot and many more culinary choices just a short drive into the heart of Freo. Or stay put and meander downstairs to the Tradewinds Bar & Bistro for lunch or dinner with some great specials and beautiful meals prepared with locally sourced produce.
