Morris Mundy Reserve is a lovely reserve in Kensington with basketball and netball hoop, cricket wickets, football goals, large green oval, picnic tables and a new shaded playground. The reserve backs onto houses on three sides although not fully fenced is fairly safe as it’s a long way between the playground equipment and the road. The playground is shaded by shade sails and large well-established tree. I could only see one picnic table but we put down a picnic rug under the tree shade and it was lovely. Clarko Reserve is a coastal reserve located at Trigg Beach at the end of Karrinyup Road. The jewel colours of the verdant green grass and shimmering blue sea beyond the dunes is a feast for the eyes. At a sheltered end of the reserve, near the beach car park, is a good sized playground with equipment to suit a range of children. The location borders on Lake Joondalup and is very peaceful and pretty with birdlife and clusters of shady trees. Regent Waters Playground is sandbased and surrounded by plenty of grass with three large sheltered picnic tables scattered at intervals. There is a gas barbeque under the trees for public use, making this a good spot for a family picnic or event. Found at Movida Estate, Willuna Park in Midvale, offers a fun new playground. Just minutes form Midland, the park features a great mix of traditional equipment, nature play, sand play and even soccer goals that will keep kids aged from about 3 years and up entertained. Marri Park is a great little spot to take the kids to burn off some extra energy. This park is also dog-friendly, so you could even bring your fur baby along. There is a large grass oval with soccer goals at the top end of the park, so don’t forget your ball for a kick around. Lawler Park is a green, leafy park in Floreat with a playground suitable for toddlers and upwards. There are lots of play opportunities here to keep the kids busy. It’s right on the river, and around the enclosed playground is plenty of grass to kick a ball on, BBQs and gazebos and, of course, the beautiful river. My 10-year-old was impressed with the park, especially the X-park obstacle course. The course is set up with a starting point and different obstacles throughout, including climbing, balancing and swinging. Herdsman Lake Regional Park is a great location for a family walk, play and picnic. There are 2 playgrounds around the lake, one at Glendalough Open Space and the other at Popeye Lake Parkland. Glendalough Open Space is a lovely little play area with parking directly next to it off the main road access.  This area has swings, seesaw, flying fox, slides and numerous climbing frames to entertain kids of all ages. Grenville Reserve is a hidden gem of a park located in the heart of Tuart Hill. It is located on the corner of Stoneham and Hector Streets, behind Tuart College. This park features a playground that would suit children of various ages and skill levels. CY O’Connor Hub Playground is a lovely drive to Mundaring Weir, through Perth’s Hills. You can get there from Kalamunda or Mundaring. Not only is the huge dam essential to WA’s water supply, but it’s a lovely spot for a family picnic.
