If you’re looking for somewhere near the beach for coffee and a play date, Coogee Beach Playground, with its ship themed play structure, could be just the place for you. The structure itself is mainly wooden with a sand pit base and features a wavy slide and rope ladders. There’s a rope bridge, a telescope and portholes to look through as well as an alphabet and numbers game. Based on the height of the playground, I’d say this one is for kids two and over. Morris Mundy Reserve is a lovely reserve in Kensington with basketball and netball hoop, cricket wickets, football goals, large green oval, picnic tables and a new shaded playground. The reserve backs onto houses on three sides although not fully fenced is fairly safe as it’s a long way between the playground equipment and the road. The playground is shaded by shade sails and large well-established tree. I could only see one picnic table but we put down a picnic rug under the tree shade and it was lovely. Set aside in one corner, there is a neat playground, which is staggered over a number of levels for the kids to explore.
