The new kid on the block, Santorini Café in Alkimos, has arrived. Taking over the old Momento Vivere space, it has had a facelift and welcomes you in with its bright and open café space.
For a moment, I was worried that we had lost another child-friendly café as the previous space had a large play area. However, Santorini Café came through and recently added a play space to the café. Situated to one side of the café, it allows it to be separate from the rest of the café, so if you don’t have kids or want to enjoy a calmer coffee that day, you don’t have to worry about kids running in between the tables. Meaning everyone gets peace and hot coffee.
This is exactly what happened when I got to enjoy a toddler-free lunch date with a friend recently. We walked into a large mums’ group; however, the kids were happily playing in the play area, so it was still a relaxing time for all.
The menu has all your favourite all-day brunch options, including eggs benedict, smashed avocado, and breakfast burgers. There are also some specials like the Brioche French Toast or Shakshouka, plus some bigger options like the steak sandwich or beef burger. Kids’ meals are available for $12 and include both breakfast and lunch options.
I decided to order avocado on toast with a hashbrown. I now have to consider my youngest when I order food, as we have started BLW, and no food is safe when within reach. We also ordered eggs on toast and two coffees.
The food arrived quickly, and both were impressive serves. The avocado on toast featured two pieces of sourdough, a generous helping of avocado, two poached eggs, hummus, and feta.
The staff were polite on the times I’ve gone with both kids have always been friendly and made me feel welcomed to stay and let the kids play.
There is plenty of parking right out front, as well as a playground just across the road. One important note is that there are toilets, but they are situated outside the café. So maybe avoid the mid-coffee toilet run for the kids and try and go beforehand to make it a bit easier if running solo.
Add this one to your list when looking for a kid-friendly café with a classic all-day brunch menu.
