If you have little skater boys and girls – be sure to check out the Belmont Skate Park. Do your kids love to skate, scoot and ride their BMX’s? Next time you’re in the area, be sure to throw the skateboards and scooters in the back of the car. They will love it! The skate park is located right next to the Belmont Leisure Centre (perfect for cooling off after a ride). And there’s also the neighboring “volcano park” – a HUGE play area, lots of picnic spots, the Belmont Library and an excellent café (8 Yolks) within about 350 Read more…

The City of Belmont has a very cool new edition a Forster Park – a bike pump track! There’s the regular pump track circuit and then there are some pretty large jumps. This is so much fun – even just watching is very entertaining. Only bikes with air-filled tyres are allowed on the track as scooters and plastic wheeled toys can damage it. Next to the pump track, a brand new playground has also been installed. This is a mixture of traditional play equipment and nature play elements, based on wood chips. The main structure is a wooden forte with Read more…

Peet Park in Kewdale has recently had an upgrade with brand new playground equipment. The new equipment is suitable for all ages and includes three slides, lots of climbing fun, see-saw and merry-go-round. There are also swings, including one toddler swing. All the equipment is on bright colourful soft fall base and was shaded nicely by large trees. The playground is adjacent to the community centre, large oval and cricket nets so plenty of space for ball games or running around as well. There are public toilets and a drinking fountain. We stopped by recently and my five year Read more…

A brand new play space has just opened up at Centenary Park in Belmont and it’s so good! Designed for younger kids, the playground is fully fenced with a mixture of soft fall and sand. In the centre there is a main wooden structure which has a rope ladder and wooden ladders to climb up. The first platform has a bucket on a chain. The girls loved working together to pull the bucket up once I had filled it with sand for them. The second platform is like a little cubby house with a bench seat inside and leads to Read more…

Adachi Park just off Great Eastern Hwy in Belmont has recently had an upgrade to the play equipment. You might know the park for the little brick house that is located there and can be seen from the highway. We recently stopped by for a play and a wander along the river walking paths. We found this a great little spot with parking, toilets, bbq facilities and covered picnic tables as well as the playground equipment and walkways. The playground is quite small with cubby house and a climbing structure with two slides, seesaw and a birds nest swing. The Read more…

Sometimes small parks deliver a big play and this is the case at Copley Reserve Belmont. We recently stumbled across this small park which is located near the shops on Kooyong Rd Belmont. Copley Reserve Belmont is very much part of the community as the park has a small community garden at the edge and the pathways lead through housing to further grassed areas and benches. The park features a nature playground that has been set up using a lovely fig tree as natural shade. Most of the playground is woodchip style base except for the sand area with two Read more…
