Was on the way to Claremont Quarter when we stumbled across a fantastic playground just a stone’s throw away from CQ. Rowe Park consists of, a playground, separate sand pit area, lush greenery, benches, basketball court, tennis courts, drinks fountain and plenty of shade. There is also BBQ pits and picnic tables in the near future. Bert Wright Park is a small nature playground located behind the library and community centre in Bayswater. For a small area, there is plenty to offer, the park has a nature play area, Basketball hoop, expanse of grass, concrete pathway and BBQ and covered picnic table. Today we tried out the new playground at Richardson Park in South Perth, just near the Perth Zoo. We found it to have a good range of equipment for a range of ages and it backs onto a large expanse of grass for ball games or running around. The new Tomato Lake all-abilities playground has opened and it appears to be a big hit as it was very busy when we visited. The playground is in front between the cafe and the bbq picnic area. The colourful Playground is wrapped in a living hedge maze, so even the walk in feels like a little adventure. Tucked away off James Spiers Drive is Regent Waters Playground, a small suburban playground. The location borders on Lake Joondalup and is very peaceful and pretty with birdlife and clusters of shady trees. Regent Waters Playground is sandbased and surrounded by plenty of grass with three large sheltered picnic tables scattered at intervals. Pine Park is a hidden gem in Darlington, in the Perth Hills. I grew up in the hills and my parents still live there. On today’s visit we thought we’d try somewhere different to the usual park. I’m glad we did, it was a very pleasant morning and more importantly little Miss had a great time. It is a small playground with a castle theme. CY O’Connor Hub Playground is a lovely drive to Mundaring Weir, through Perth’s Hills. You can get there from Kalamunda or Mundaring. Not only is the huge dam essential to WA’s water supply, but it’s a lovely spot for a family picnic. There are historical, natural, play and educational attractions in the “CY O’Connor Hub”, which is found on the north side of the weir, accessed by a road behind the Mundaring Weir Hotel. Wicca Park is a great park with green grass, lovely large trees, picnic facilities, playground and huge rope climbing structure. It is located in Kewdale not far from the Belmont Forum and Reading Cinemas. The playground is sand based and has swings, slide and climbing frame. The swings are normal swings. The climbing structure has monkey bars, small flying fox and slide. This area is shaded naturally by the trees surrounding it. It was nicely shaded the day we visited.
