Explore Pia’s Place Playground
The enormous Pia’s Place Playground has been designed to allow every child the opportunity to play and explore in an inclusive nature-based play space. This state of the art playground definitely takes the meaning of all abilities to a whole new level. Children who don’t want to or can’t climb to the top of the 13m lighthouse slide can still enjoy the 360° views from the ground through TV screens. Located at Mussel Pool East. Get Close to The Animals at Caversham Wildlife Park
Caversham Wildlife Park offers visitors a chance to get up close and hands-on with over 200 species of animals, birds and reptiles, many of which are native to Australia. It’s a great spot to take international visitors. The Farm Show gives you a true blue Aussie experience – watch sheep being sheared, crack a stock whip, milk a cow, bottle feed a lamb, meet a stockman on horseback, swing a billy and watch sheep dogs mustering the sheep. Splash About in the Water Playground
The free water play area at Whiteman Park is a top spot for the kids to cool off on a hot day. The water park is suitable for children aged 10 years and under and is open September to April. Get Car-crazy at The Motor Museum of WA
The Motor Museum of Western Australia is home to one of Australia’s largest collections of motor vehicles and motoring history memorabilia. Little motoring buffs will love seeing the old cars. Ride on Bennett Brook Railway
Choo Choo! Hop on board the steam or diesel train and be taken for a journey on the Bennett Brook Railway through Whiteman Park’s banksia woodlands. Discover the Village East Playground
The colourful Village East Playground has undergone a complete reconstruction (2019). The shaded equipment is easy for toddlers to navigate, while still being adventurous enough to keep older kids entertained. Get Close to Nature at The Children’s Forest
The Children’s Forest is a community initiative aimed to teach children about revegetation and environment in Australia. This area of the park is fenced to keep it free from Kangaroos. Grab a list of “50 things to do in the Children’s Forest” from the Visitor Centre and explore huts, bridges, stepping stones, hidden animals and much more for kids to spy along the way and mark of their list. Use Your Pedal Power at Pedal Play Go Carts
Pedal Play is an energetic and fun way to explore Whiteman Park. There’s a Pedal Play go-kart to suit every family. Let the kids pedal around in a single go kart or grab a family kart and take the little ones for a cruise around the park. You can pop a trailer on the back for your esky too! Pedal around mussel pool, the Children’s Forest, across bridges and anywhere kart will take you around 14kms of paths, stopping for a picnic or to discover lookouts and playgrounds along the way. Play on The Village West Playground
The Village West Playground underwent a complete transformation with all new play equipment and shade sails in 2016. The fully fenced playground is a perfect park for sunny day with almost the entire park covered by shade. Enjoy a Family Tram Ride
Take your family for a ride on the heritage tram ride, which is the only place in Western Australia where can you ride a genuine vintage electric tram. Discover The Past at The Revolutions Transport Museum
Revolutions Transport Museum is an engaging exhibition that showcases the transport options that have been used across Western Australia over the many years from the early settlers to modern cars and busses. Eat at The Village Cafe
The Village Café offers a range of dine in and take away food options – whether you need to grab a snack on the go, enjoy a weekend brunch or carvery. Even if you’re having a picnic, like a lot of families in Whiteman Park, that Village Café also sells Aussie BBQ packs that you can cook yourself on the park barbeques.
Watch the Tractor Parade
If your child is obsessed with machinery, they’ll love watching the monthly Tractor Parade, which features restored vintage tractors of WA’s agricultural past from the Tractor Museum of WA. It’s a great sight to see them tinkling, clanking and chugging their way through the Village Mall. The Tractor Parade takes place on the second Sunday of every month at 1pm. Play with your Pooch at the Whiteman Dog Park
