Are you ready go on an adventure into Wonderland? Head to the WA museum, Boola Bardip, Perth, where you will find the interactive exhibition celebrating Lewis Carroll’s story and Alice’s adventures.
As you enter the exhibition you are given a map of Wonderland. The map itself is interactive and themed on characters from the story – think Queen of Hearts, Cheshire Cat, and Mad Hatter.
You actually enter the exhibition through a small door, to make you feel really tall, or a tall door, to make you feel really small!
As you move through the exhibition you explore Alice’s journey from the book to all the different films that have been inspired by the story. The exhibition includes original pictures, magic lanterns and moving images. There are costume sketches, costumes, movie posters, and sketches for scenes.
Always wanted to be at the Mad Hatters tea party? Nothing is impossible, as digital imagery brings this to life in front of you.
Things get curiouser and curiouser as you get lost in the Hallway of Doors, squeeze into a tiny house and climb up the giant chair.
At the Queens Croquet grounds you can make your own soldier avatar and then see it dancing across the screen.
Wonderland is an interactive exhibition where you can touch and climb things and open and close drawers to find more.
I took along my 9yr old daughter and we both thought it was really good fun. As a parent, I like the immersive and interactive aspects of the exhibition as they help keep children’s interest. My daughter also enjoyed the immersive experience of the tea party and the changing projections. The Queens Croquet grounds was also fun.
The Wonderland exhibition is on at the WA Museum Boola Bardip until 23rd April 2023. Tickets can be booked in advance or purchased on arrival
