The new Mills Park Library at the Mills Park facility in Beckenham is now open. There is so much in the one area now when you visit the library, you can also have a coffee at Fika on Brix, play at the Mills Park playground, shoot a hoop, have a hit of tennis or a skate at the skate park.
The library features a great range of books, puzzles and DVDs, reading spaces, meeting pods, private study zones, free access to computers and wifi, and printing and photocopying for a small charge.
My daughter liked the toys and puppets that are also available for loan and make story time fun.
The library runs a number of regular programs for the little ones. They have toddler time, baby rhyme time and Storytime.
Toddler time is for children 1-3 years old and is a fun program with various activities to develop social interactions and other important skills.
Baby rhyme time is one for families with young babies and involves songs, stories and a chance to meet other families with young babies.
Storytime is held on Saturday mornings and is aimed at children 3 to 5 years. The children can enjoy stories, craft and songs.
There are monthly STEAM activities for ages 7 to 12 years to encourage creating and thinking using robotics, coding, Lego and more. A full list of programs can we found on the website.
The library is new and fresh with lots of big windows and comfortable chairs for reading. We visited on a Saturday morning and enjoyed some time in the library before getting a takeaway coffee for me from Fika on Brix and having a play in the playground. It is very handy having all the facilities so close together. The library is even open every day of the week.
