Wave Rock

When visiting Wave Rock there is no better accommodation than the Wave Rock Caravan Park. Our family has been a few times now and we are never disappointed. There is loads of room and the facilities are impressive.Wave Rock Caravan Park

The camp kitchen itself is not huge, but has most things light campers would need. The industrial sized sink was great for doing our dishes without worrying about boiling water back at site. The undercover area is huge and there are plenty of tables, chairs and space to accommodate a fair amount of people at one time. It’s a thriving hub – and lots of families have their meals there – particularly when sports play on the big screen. But if you are looking for a quiet breakie away from the crowds, there are tables scattered around the camp areas too. Wave Rock Caravan Park

There are two areas with bbq facilities on either side of the undercover area. Both have open grassed spaces (great for cartwheels and toddler broggies). The playground is a draw card for fam’s with kids – conveniently placed right next to the bbq and the undercover area. The playground itself is a lovely wooden structure with a bridge, cubby and swings. A great place for meeting other kids too.

The cricket pitch and nets was the highlight for my son, so if you have any budding cricketers be sure to pack a bat and ball. Dogs are allowed as long as they’re on a lead, so don’t forget your fur babies and poo bags. The bathroom facilities were clean and functional on both visits. Showers and toilets are spacious. There are plenty of bins scattered around and the caretakers seem to do a thorough sweep in between campers leaving and arriving. Wave Rock Caravan Park

We’ve been in the hot and cooler months so it was great to experience the pool on our last trip – it was a scorcher! The pool from the fence is deceptive and looks smaller than it actually is once you’re in. Wave Rock Caravan ParkEven with a good crowd there was still a fair amount of space and plenty of spots to dry up and grab a snack on the surrounding grassed area, or one of the gazebos. There are several lounge chairs but they tend to get snapped up quick.Wave Rock Caravan Park

Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult and no bombies allowed – which in this size pool – is probably not such a bad thing. But there were still a few cheeky horsey bombs not just teens, but adults too… #straya. Be warned – Big Brother watches – cameras are there for safety and security and managers are quick to shut down any shenanigans.Wave Rock Caravan Park

There are plenty of accommodation options including ensuite powered sites, self-contained cabins, powered and non-powered sites. We recommend getting there before sundown – the site numbers can get a little tricky in the dark.

Caravan patrons get free access to Wave Rock and there is a short walk way left of the entrance, closest to the rock. We were in a roof top tent this time and it was awesome to wake up in the morning with a great view of the prehistoric wave. Wave Rock Caravan Park

Food and meals are available in the town of Hyden as well as across the road at the cafe. We recommend taking most of your grub so you don’t get caught out. We enjoyed a few take away coffees and ice creams from the onsite kiosk and they do sell basics like milk, etc if you happen to run out.

The staff are friendly and will help you out if needed. We were stranded on a recent expedition and they booked us in no problems on the spot. Such a great area to explore and a highly recommended park.
