Taunton Farm is a fabulous family get away in the beautiful South-West. Situated in Cowaramup, about a 15 min drive from Margaret River, it houses a range of reasonably priced accommodation options including powered and unpowered camping sites, and various sized cottages. Its fabulous location means it’s a stone’s throw from a bunch of south west attractions including 3 Oceans winery which is right next door.
Most of the cottages over look the camping sites leading down to the kids play and family recreation area. There is a loop dirt road around the camping sites which is great for the kids to ride or scooter on. There are also pedal go karts for hire.
The kids play area is fantastic with a small wooden playground with swings and a slide and the biggest attraction for our kids – a huge inflatable jumping pillow which keeps them amused for hours on end.
There is a large grassed area with plenty of room to kick a ball and this leads on to the sprawling green paddocks and the gorgeous farmland view.
At 5pm each night the farm animals come down for feeding and the kids can pass hay through the fence to the enormous cows, pigs, goats, and sheep.
There is also a large outside shed with barbecues, a pit fire (great for the kids to roast marshmallows – they even have roasting sticks you can borrow) and plenty of tables and chairs. It’s a great spot for dinner and for groups to hang out especially if it’s raining.
On the other side of the farm there is a walking track which meanders down past some more paddocks where you can see a camel and some more sheep.
The cottages are quite basic but very clean. They have a TV and DVD player and you can hire DVDs from reception. The management is super friendly and quick to respond to any issues.
With its relaxed vibe and plenty for the kids to do, it makes a great down south getaway.
