Brickwrecks: sunken ships in LEGO® bricks
From the watery depths! Discover extraordinary shipwrecks, revealed in incredible LEGO® model detail at Maritime Museum!
Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught, working with expert maritime archaeologists, brings to life eight astonishing shipwrecks and their stories in this immersive exhibition on display until January 30 2022. Featuring large-scale LEGO® models of ships such as Western Australia’s famous Batavia, the “unsinkable” Titanic, the highly decorated Vasa and the ill-fated Terror and Erebus including interactive exhibits, plus real and replica shipwreck objects. Come and uncover the stories of the voyages, life aboard the ships, their watery demise and the shipwreck detectives who locate and document the wrecks. This new exhibition is developed and designed by the Western Australian Museum in partnership with the Australian National Maritime Museum and Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught. Hundreds and Thousands: Immersive kids’ colour adventure
Following on from the blockbuster 2018 kids’ exhibition Animaze, Fremantle Arts Centre presents an even bigger and more colourful creative experience for kids with Hundreds and Thousands. Hundreds and Thousands will transform the galleries and grounds into colour-filled worlds, with vibrant interactive artworks created and displayed specifically for children and families to enjoy. Across a spectrum of colour-themed spaces, Hundreds and Thousands will create rich sensory experiences for kids of all ages, including kinetic colour machines to explore, giant golden soft sculptures to touch, cool blue optical illusions and mysterious multicoloured dimensions. Follow chromatic trails through artworks, play spaces and all-access activities, created by more than 40 artists. Hundreds and Thousands features newly commissioned artworks by Rosie Deacon, Sohan Ariel Hayes and Ngamaru Bidu, Phil Gamblen, Rox de Luca and more. An exciting program of kids’ colour-related art courses, workshops, activities and events will run in conjunction with Hundreds and Thousands. The Magic of Christmas 2021
Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre Saturdays
We are now open to the public on Saturdays from 9am until 2pm! Grab your Saturday morning coffee from Twitchers coffee window, browse the gift shop, find out about upcoming events, learn more about wildlife from native animal exhibits, and explore the wetland boardwalk. The $5 admission fee supports the continuation of the centre and its environmental education programs.
Creatures and Critters at Wanneroo Museum – all ages
When: Saturday 18 December to Saturday 29 January during museum opening times Where: Wanneroo Regional Museum, Rocca Way, Wanneroo Cost: FREE Hop swim, or fly into the Wanneroo Museum these school holidays and discover the creatures and critters that call Wanneroo home. From sea life to farm animals, come and learn some interesting stories from the past. Explore the museum with our fun clue hunt activity, make an animal craft to take home, and check out some artefacts on our hands on history table. There’s plenty of fun things to see and do!
Green Day – ages 9 to 11 years
When: Wednesday 1 January 2022 Where: Wanneroo Botanical Gardens, 25 Drovers Place, Wanneroo Cost: $15 Go green with recycling and mini golf, what a combo! Get a behind-the-scenes look at the world of recycling then enjoy the greenery with a game of mini golf at Wanneroo Botanical Gardens. Finish it off with lunch and an upcycling class at Wanneroo Youth Centre. Bookings available Monday 6 December

Water Play Wednesday
Come along for a morning of water play fun with the kids these Summer school holidays! Cool off in the park with fun water play activities including washing baby dolls, cleaning dinosaurs, sensory trays, fishing game and running through the sprinkler, as well as, many of our regular park play activities. These are all free activities for families and no bookings are required. Suitable for families with children 0 – 10 years. Be sure to bring a towel, spare change of clothes, hat, drinks and snacks! School holiday fun at the City of Armadale Libraries and Museum!
100 years ago where in the kitchen could you find a midnight snack? Follow the food trail to find a list of old time home items, and complete the word search to reveal the mystery object! This is a self guided activity. This program runs from 4 to 30 January during the History House Museum opening hours.
Yanchep Community Open Day – all ages
When: Thursday 6 January // 11am to 2pm Where: Yanchep Skate Park & Splendid Park, Yanchep Cost: FREE Freestyle Now, inflatable and a BBQ all at Splendid Park. Come down to Splendid Park in Yanchep and enjoy a community friendly event. While you’re there, find out what services are available for young people in Yanchep, have an ice cream in the sunshine and get involved with Freestyle Now and their FREE skateboard coaching and competitions on the skate park. Giant Art Day
Head down to Huntingdale Community Centre for a giant art day these school holidays! We will have a range of crafty activities for the kids to get involved in with painting, gluing, play dough and lots more. We hope to see your creative kids there! Box-car Drive-in Movie at Bertram
A special “drive-in” movie experience for the little ones! Decorate your own cardboard car, and “drive-in” to the hall for the movies. South Perth StrEATS
StrEATS is back! Every Wednesday to Sunday during summer, some of Perth’s best food trucks line the picturesque South Perth foreshore for StrEATS. Take your pick from a variety of cuisines and soak up the summer evening atmosphere with a picnic overlooking the CBD skyline. Food trucks set up at Sir James Mitchell Park (Coode St) near the flagpole from 5 to 8.30pm Wednesday to Sunday, from 12 November 2021 until 18 April 2022. Curtis and Martha’s Ocean Adventure Kids Show
Curtis and Martha’s Litter Less Ocean Adventure Show teaches children aged 3 to 9 about the impact littering has on our environment, with an emphasis on ocean and beach littering. Our bright, engaging characters will take children on a journey using story, song and dance with education and learning woven throughout. We invite you to join Curtis the Crab, Martha the Mermaid and Teddy the Turtle as they introduce children to the magnitude of the littering problem in our oceans and how they can play an active role in decreasing environmental harm. After the show Curtis the Crab and Martha the Mermaid lead the children on a litter collecting adventure using their very own “Litter Hunter” kits. Wanneroo Aquamotion Family Fun Day
Wanneroo Aquamotion is hosting their annual Family Fun Day event from 1pm-4pm on Saturday 8 January 2022.
Experience Aquamotion’s excellent facilities including a state-of-the-art gym, 25m indoor pool, hydrotherapy pool, outdoor splash pad, spa and sauna and the brand new outdoor playground. Activities for adults and kids of all ages to enjoy on the day include:

Get Wild About Wetlands – Frog Night Stalk
Join The Wetlands Centre for an exciting night time adventure! Hop along and learn about the frogs that live near the wetlands of the Swan Coastal Plain. Join us for a night walk through the Bibra Lake Reserve followed by a cuppa. Bring a torch and sense of adventure! The Get Wild About Wetlands school holiday program is a partnership with the City of Cockburn and The Wetlands Centre. The Wetlands Centre is a not-for-profit community organisation that is dedicated to the conservation and restoration of wetlands, environmental education, training, and community services located at Bibra Lake. These school holidays come on down to the Wetlands Precinct (WA Wildlife & The Wetlands Centre) and learn all there is to know about our special environment and unique wildlife. Children $5 Parents and children under 5 are free. Please note that registrations are essential for everyone attending including adults and under 5s, just select the free option.

Tom and Jerry (rated G) – Movies in the Park Animated Antics
Bring a blanket or chair and come along to Faulkner Park, Cloverdale for special screening of the 2021 Tom & Jerry movie! With family fun from 6:30pm, enjoy a movie under the stars from sunset (approximately 7:30pm).
About the Movie
A legendary rivalry re-emerges when Jerry moves into New York City’s finest hotel on the eve of the wedding of the century, forcing the desperate event planner to hire Tom to get rid of him. Music in the Park
Music in the Park is the City of Joondalup’s premier community event delivering quality live music from some of Australia’s best emerging and established artists, to the neighbourhoods of Joondalup residents. The first concert is on Saturday 15 January 2022 at Santiago Park Ocean Reef. This is a free event however tickets are essential. You can BYO picnic or purchase from a variety of food trucks. There will also be children’s activities from 5.00pm. Concert starts at 5.30pm with opening act Kurt Carrera, a student from WAAPA. Support Act is local band, Supathick. Combining their previous experiences in the realms of jazz, hip hop and electronica, the members of the Perth funk-fired-disco outfit have a collective open mind for experimentation and collaboration. Don’t miss the Headline Act trio, End Of Fashion. These talented musos make for a force to be reckoned with and one hell of a live act! Their live shows have evolved, showcasing the mastery of their instruments and their love of the stage. This event is Auslan interpreted and smoke free. Summer Movie Arvo! – ages 9 to 11 years

Hunt for the Wilderpeople, based on a popular children’s book, will be screening this summer at the Wanneroo Learning and Cultural Centre. School Holiday Activity: French Knitting
French knitting uses a loom with four prongs rather than knitting needles, making it a quick and easy way for beginners to learn how to knit. Make a scarf, a bracelet or a wool snake! Bookings via Eventbrite.
Summer Sessions – 3v3 basketball competition – Hillarys
Free small-scale youth music, sport, art and amusement events, held at public parks in the City of Joondalup for young people aged 11 to 17 years. The events aim to get young people participating in a healthy, active lifestyle in a safe and friendly environment. This event will be held at Mawson Park, Hillarys on Tuesday 18 January 2022 and will include a 3v3 basketball competition with prizes. The event will run from 3.00pm – 7.00pm. The competition will be knockout with the winner taking all. Umpires will be onsite to monitor the games and 3v3 rules will apply. Games will be 10 minutes long or first to 11. Game times will be advised on the day. Please arrive at 3.30pm, games will start at 4.00pm Please register your team below – spaces are limited to 16 teams (48 Players). Teams must be aged between 11 and 17 with at least one person on the team under the age of 15. The events are alcohol, drug and smoke free and are a community event. Calling all young superheroes to Wilkinson Homestead Museum these school holidays! Suit up and enjoy fun park play activities, as well as, meeting some of your favourite superheroes all here in Gosnells. (Dressing up in superhero costume is encouraged but not essential) These are all free activities for families and no bookings are required. Suitable for families with children 0 – 10 years.
Night at the Museum – Aviation Heritage Museum
On Friday 21st January, you are invited to join the Aviation Heritage Museum for a truly unique experience. For the first time, the museum will open its doors at night to display its vast collection of aircraft all lit up for special night viewing. This is the perfect event for young and old and for those whose schedules are just too busy during the day. Doors will be open from 5pm to 9pm, during which visitors can view one of Australia’s biggest collections of aircraft in a different light. Besides the unique aircraft display, the museum features exciting interactive displays and simulators. There will also be food trucks on the grass, so visitors can enjoy a picnic dinner before, during or after their visit. As the weather heats up what better way to cool off then at one of the Aquatic Centre’s family fun days these Summer Holidays. Mermaids, prize giveaways, carnival rides, pool inflatables, sausage sizzle there’s plenty to keep the kids happy all day

Fremantle City Football Club – Family Open Day 2022
Fremantle City Football Club (FCFC) starts off the season by opening their doors to the Fremantle community and surrounds. Family and friends are invited to come along to a free event and enjoy an afternoon of face painting, bouncy castles, water dunking, small sided games and live entertainment. A great event for the kids that marks the beginning of the soccer season for 2022. There will also be information stands available on registrations, volunteering at FCFC, local business sponsorship opportunities, and merchandise. Lots of fun for the family.

Jazz in the Park
Come along and enjoy some live Jazz music on the fourth Sunday of the month! Bring a picnic or afternoon tea and relax under the trees in Yokine Reserve behind the Yokine Bowling club, 10 Wordsworth Ave. Please note if the weather is inclement the picnics will not go ahead.
York Town Hall Guided Tours
In celebration of the iconic Town Hall turning 110, the Visitor Centre team is offering Town Hall tours for the month of November. In this forty minute tour, you’ll hear the history of the Hall, hear local bush poetry from a WWI soldier linked to York and access to areas not generally open to the public. 29 November the hall officially turns 110 and tours on this day are FREE!
Chinese New Year Celebration
Ages 8 – 99 years All children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult Celebrate the Year of the Tiger with a presentation on the significance of Chinese New Year followed by traditional activities and food tasting. Join in the fun and wear something red! Bookings are essential and can be done online, over the phone or in person. Bookings are not confirmed until payment has been received.

Free Outdoor Cinema – City of Rockingham Summer Series
Grab your favourite denim jacket and leg warmers and come on down to the free screening of Wonder Woman 1984 (M). Melville Summer Music | The Little Lord Street Band + Claudie Joy & The Joy Boys
Free summer music for everyone as the sun sets at Limestone Amphitheatre. A Melville Summer Music double header of alt-country indie folk at the Civic Amphitheatre sees The Little Lord Street Band joined by Claudie Joy and the Joy Boys. As part of the City of Melville’s evolving arts program, we’re bringing you nine free concerts throughout November to March. The sunset@subi free concert series covers a mix of sounds and genres suitable for the whole family.
