City View Cafรฉ at Optus Stadium is one of those rare spots where you can treat the kids to a relaxed meal while soaking up some of the best views in Perth. Overlooking the Swan River and the city skyline, it makes a brilliant start or finish to a family adventure around Optus Stadium, Matagarup Bridge and the surrounding Playgrounds.

The cafรฉ is located on the river side of Optus Stadium near Gate D. If youโ€™re visiting with a pram, scooter or bikes, youโ€™ll be pleased to know thereโ€™s a lift as well as stairs, so access is easy no matter how much kid gear youโ€™ve brought along. Inside, the space is bright, airy and modern, with large windows framing the river and city. Tables are well spaced, leaving plenty of room to manoeuvre prams and high chairs, and thereโ€™s a mix of small tables for two and larger tables suited to families and groups.

Families are well catered for, with a casual atmosphere that makes it easy to relax with children in tow.  High chairs are available, and toilets with baby change facilities are located just outside the main dining space, so ducking out with a toddler or for a quick nappy change is straightforward.

City View Cafรฉ is open daily for breakfast and lunch. The breakfast menu runs through the morning, with a focus on familiar cafรฉ favourites such as eggs on toast, bacon and eggs, smashed avo, granola and more substantial hot options for those with bigger appetites. From late morning, the lunch menu offers burgers, salads, light meals and seasonal specials. Thereโ€™s also usually a tempting selection of muffins, slices, bagels, croissants and rolls at the counter if youโ€™re after something quick. Coffee is a big drawcard here and the baristas know their stuff, making it a popular spot for a caffeine hit after a walk or Playground stop.

Children arenโ€™t forgotten, with a kidsโ€™ menu available at lunchtime featuring smaller portions and simple, crowd-pleasing choices. Portions for adults are generous, and dishes are fresh and well presented. Service is generally friendly and efficient, even when the cafรฉ is busy with stadium visitors, locals and tourists all dropping in to enjoy the view.

You order at the front counter and meals are brought to your table, which makes it easy to get the kids settled first and then order in your own time. A self-serve water station with glasses is available, handy for thirsty little ones who have been playing outside. The cafรฉ is cashless, so youโ€™ll need a card or digital payment method to settle the bill, but thereโ€™s no surcharge on public holidays, which is a welcome bonus for families making the most of long weekends.

One of the biggest drawcards of City View Cafรฉ is its position within the wider Optus Stadium precinct. Itโ€™s perfectly placed for a bite to eat before or after exploring the many Playgrounds, walking and cycling paths along the river. Many families like to pair breakfast at the cafรฉ with a stroll across Matagarup Bridge and a play at the nearby nature and sensory Playgrounds. With scooters or bikes in tow, you can easily turn a simple cafรฉ visit into a full morning out, looping along the river and returning to the stadium parklands.

Because the cafรฉ sits within a major sporting venue, opening hours can change on event and game days. On days when Optus Stadium is hosting a big event or concert, City View Cafรฉ may be closed to general walk-ins and used for event-day dining only. Itโ€™s always worth checking the latest details before you go, especially if youโ€™re planning to meet friends or are travelling from further afield. You can confirm opening times, view the current seasonal menu and make a booking via the official Optus Stadium website.

For AFL fans, the cafรฉ also offers pre-game dining, with bookings available in the lead-up to matches. This can be a fun way to start a family footy outing, giving everyone a proper meal before you head into the stadium. Do keep in mind that bookings for pre-game dining donโ€™t include event tickets โ€“ youโ€™ll need to have those organised separately.

Whether youโ€™re fuelling up before a walk, pausing for coffee while the kids recharge, or enjoying a relaxed lunch with visiting family, City View Cafรฉ is a fantastic family-friendly choice. With its sweeping views, easy access, proximity to Playgrounds and consistently good food and coffee, itโ€™s a spot many Perth families return to again and again.

We recently visited City View Cafe at Optus Stadium for breakfast before we went for a walk over the bridge and along the river. The Cafe is located on the riverside of the stadium at the top of the stairs near gate D, but donโ€™t let the stairs put you off there is a lift if you have a pram or bikes/scooter with you.

The cafe is bright and roomy with space between tables for a pram. All the seats offer views of the river, there are some larger tables available as well as small tables for two.

We chose a table at the window so we could enjoy the views. By chance, it was right near the kids’ corner. This consisted of a few small tables and chairs and a cabinet set up with pencils and different colouring sheets. Our daughter spotted this and was soon colouring in a picture while we waited for the rest of our table.

The breakfast menu is available until 12 noon and the lunch menu from 10am. There is a small kids menu available on the lunch menu. As well as the menu there is a range of muffins and savoury bagels, croissants and rolls at the front counter. You order and pay at the front counter. There is a water station available with cold water and plenty of glasses.

We ordered our daughter the eggs and bacon off the breakfast menu which came with two eggs and a generous serve of bacon. For kids with a smaller appetite, you could order just one egg. I enjoyed the avocado smash which I really enjoyed. The service is friendly and the coffee and food were fresh and tasty.

Toilets are located at the front of the restaurant and have a changing table available. There are also a few high chairs in the cafe. Reservations can be made and on event days the cafe may not be open to the public.

The cafe is well located for a coffee or a bite to eat before or after a play in the different playgrounds available in the area. We had taken our daughters scooter and took a walk across Matagarup bridge and along the river after breakfast. Before going back to the car we also had a quick play in the sensory playground.

Weโ€™ve been to City View Cafe a number of times now and the service is always friendly and the views are great. We can enjoy a coffee or a meal and our daughter gets to have her choice of playgrounds before or after or both and we all go home happy!

The cafe is open Monday to Sunday 7am to 3pm.
