Hillarys Boat Harbour has long been one of Perth’s favourite family friendly destinations, with its marina views, beach, boardwalk dining and holiday atmosphere. Now, with Phat Brew Club opening its second location at Hillarys Boardwalk, there is even more reason to plan a relaxed lunch or dinner by the water.
If you have visited Phat Brew Club in Perth before, you will instantly recognise the same bright, fun and energetic style at Hillarys. The venue has a bold, colourful feel, with vibrant graffiti-style artwork and a laidback atmosphere that suits the coastal setting perfectly. It feels casual and welcoming, making it an easy choice for families who want somewhere that works for both adults and kids.
One of the biggest highlights for families is the dedicated kids’ corner. The sandpit is filled with toys, including little excavators, trucks, buckets and spades, giving younger children plenty to do while waiting for food or while the grown-ups enjoy a relaxed meal. It is located on the outside terrace in a semi-enclosed area, with seating nearby, so parents can keep an eye on little ones while still being able to sit back and enjoy the harbour views.
The setting is a major part of the appeal. Phat Brew Club Hillarys sits right on the boardwalk, giving it a breezy seaside feel that makes it ideal for a weekend catch-up, casual family meal or post-beach bite. The venue brings a craft brewery experience to Hillarys, with around 20 taps pouring a range of Phat Brew Club beers, from easy-drinking favourites to more playful and creative brews. The fun branding, colourful fit-out and waterfront location all add to the relaxed holiday vibe.
The food is impressive too, with a menu that suits a family outing. We tried the reef and beef, a delicious combination of scotch fillet and lobster that was so good the kids ended up eating most of it. The chicken parmi was another hit, and we shared sides of squid and corn, which were well prepared and full of flavour. The menu has a modern pub-style feel, with hearty meals that work well for lunch or dinner after exploring the harbour.
What makes Phat Brew Club especially appealing is that it is not just somewhere for adults to enjoy a drink. The kids’ play space, casual terrace seating and family friendly feel make it a genuinely easy venue to visit with children. Being able to enjoy good food while the kids are happily occupied in the sandpit is always a win.
After lunch, Hillarys Boat Harbour is perfect for continuing the day out. The beach Playground is always popular, and dipping toes in the water is a favourite with little ones. On weekends, families can often enjoy extra fun around the harbour, such as ride-ons and bouncy castles, making it easy to turn lunch into a full family day out.
Phat Brew Club at Hillarys Boardwalk is a great addition to one of Perth’s most iconic family destinations.
