Fringe World Perth has returned for 2024, and with it an array of family-friendly entertainment. Among these is PreHysterical Circus, an acrobatic romp through Neanderthal times that the whole family will enjoy!
We were invited along to check out PreHysterical Circus‘s opening performance at Fringe World Perth. The show follows three Neanderthal friends as they navigate the harsh world, finding food, making fire, and avoiding fierce wild animals.
The friends start out searching for food, their tummies growling. To find it, they must cross a river. Will they make it without getting zapped by the electric eels? Watch as the friends attempt to trap food. Consequently, will they instead find themselves caught in their own trap?
You will laugh along with slapstick humour and antics. The feats of human strength and flexibility will wow you. The show swings between the pure silliness and amazing balancing tricks for example.
Alex, Chelsea and Harley from Head First Acrobats Pty Ltd are truly talented performers. They had my whole family laughing along from the start. If your children’s humour revolves around physical comedy and well-timed farts, this show is sure to be a winner! My daughter was laughing so hard at times she nearly fell off her chair and the sound at times filled the whole theatre.
This show is engaging and whimsical, as well as funny. You really find yourself cheering for the three heroes of the story to succeed. For parents like my husband and myself, there was some jokes that will go over the kids heads that you’ll get, and the music is a bop too! You’ll recognise some of the tunes during the performances.
The act includes acrobatics, gymnastics-style flips, aerial silks, hoop tricks and more!
If your child has dreams to be a gymnast or to run away and join the circus one day, this show is sure to inspire and add fuel to the fire in their belly. The performers themselves are living their dream.
The show is suitable for kids aged 3 years plus. The music is quite loud and there are strobing light effects. Therefore, if your child is sensitive to noise or bright lights, please go prepared. For example, we took earphones for Miss 9 to wear until she adjusted to the noise levels. This didn’t take long and she had a ball.
Overall, PreHysterical Circus lives up to it’s name. It’s wild, it’s fun and playful. It’s a joy to watch. Our family would happily see it again!

While you’re exploring The Pleasure Garden, why not check out the Fringe World Mermaids next door in The Splash Zone? They’re free to visit. Prepare for your children to be splashed. In other words, it’s best bring a towel or change of clothes. My Miss 9 loved the mermaids, too.

Bring a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle. Retailers are available selling food and drinks. However, sometimes it’s just easier to bring a water bottle and snacks handy for the kids.
