Just a short drive from Walpole is the Coalmine Beach Holiday Park. If you’re looking for that family friendly, foresty getaway without going overseas, Coalmine is definitely one for the bucket list.
Boasting a fantastic range of accommodation, there is not only lovely shady camp sites, chalets and cabins but newly constructed Glamping tents. They look amazing. Choose from luxury King, Queen or Double which are all self-contained with kitchenette and ensuite.
We have stayed in the chalet accommodation and a tent site and both were wonderful. The facilities were clean and we never had to wait too long or at all for the ablutions. The chalet had everything we needed and the kids loved staying in the bunk beds and hanging out on their personal deck.
There is a playground for children to enjoy and the park is safe for kids to bike and explore. Plenty of friendly visits from blue wrens, kangaroos and possum spotting is a popular night time activity. In Winter the small camp fires glow across the park so pack the marshmallows and beanies.
The park is super peaceful. Because of the strict 10am curfew policy you rarely hear much and with young children, this can really make the difference to the holiday experience. The vigilance of the management in adhering to this policy has definitely brought us back to Coalmine several times now for family holidays.
There is a well equipped and spacious recreation room and they often have school holiday activities set up for the kids. When the weather permits there are outdoor movies under the stars.
The draw card is the exquisite Nornalup Inlet just a few metres away. Surrounded by beautiful southern forests and with views that expand forever, it really is a magical spot to slow down and refresh. We take a picnic and camp chairs and watch the sunset and the kids spend hours beachcombing or running up and down the shore.
Plenty of opportunities to fish, snorkel, swim, canoe or just hang with the extremely friendly pelicans.
There is so much on offer at Coalmine no matter what time of year and with the Great Southern on its doorstep, it truly is a must do for families
