Perth’s Outback Splash in Bullsbrook offers an a-MAZE-ing family day out! With so many activities and a heap of water attractions (including new lagoon pool and 4 waterslides), it is the perfect place to be creating lasting memories for families with children of all ages! Once known as “The Maze”, this spot has attractions wet and dry. Here’s our ULTIMATE guide to every you’ll find at the brilliant Outback Splash.
The Lagoon at Outback Splash
Outback Splash’s newest feature, The Lagoon, is perfect for the whole family. The huge pool caters for the whole family!
If you’re not a fan of the thrilling slides (like me), then The Lagoon is a welcome change of pace from OBS’s other water play areas. The massive resort style pool was made by the company behind the Crown Towers pool, and gives off the same chill holiday vibe. I loved it.
The Lagoon is mostly fenced and gated. Just the paddling section and windmill water feature unfenced.

The pool has a shaded shallow zone for little ones, as well as plenty of stepped ledging around the pool.
We visited the pool on a 39-degree day and the water temperature was just perfect! I could have swum around for hours! At its deepest, the pool has a depth of 1.3m. There’s plenty of ledges to sit on and a swim-up island too.
There’s plenty of sun loungers with umbrellas.
Private cabanas can be hired and give extra shade and privacy.
The “Party Hut” is great for a larger group gathering.
A fully licensed bar serves Gage Roads beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks. This is served in cups/plastic glasses. You can sit in the bar area by the pool, or drink at your sun lounger, just not IN the pool.
A new toilet, shower, and baby-change block, with plenty of lockers is found right next door to the pool.
There are even handy floatation vests to borrow.
Now the whole family is truly catered for, with a resort style pool perfect for lazing around and paddling in. Feels like a holiday!!
Outback Splash Waterslides
The huge 17.5 metre high waterslide tower has 4 slides that have been dubbed as Perth’s most thrilling waterslides.
The tower features The Wall, Blackout, Gold Rush and The Wedgie. The minimum height requirement for all 4 slides is 120cm. The 101 steps to the top is a great workout!
The Wall is a mammoth quarter-pipe raft slide and the only one of its kind in Western Australia. It features natural light effects and an almost free-fall drop, engineered to deprive you of your senses – it definitely gets the heart-pounding! The Wall is a 2 person raft slide.
Blackout features a sequence of pitch black and overwhelming natural light effects that are mind-blowing! This twisting turning slide is a 2 person raft slide.
Gold Rush is a great one to build your confidence as it is tamer than the other slides, the translucent gold slide means the rider can not only see out but spectators can watch from below. The Gold Rush is a 1 person body slide.
The Wedgie is for extreme thrill-seekers and the name says it all! At 75 kilometres per hour, The Wedgie is WA’s fastest body slide.
Splash Island
Splash Island is 3 storeys of slippery fun! There’s something for all ages with 6 water slides; a 2 lane toddler slide, a family slide and 4 larger slides.
Families with young children will enjoy the ‘splash’ area which has a multitude of water jets and showers.
The two-lane toddler racing slide is a big hit with the younger kids. Even on a busy day, you don’t have to wait more than a minute for your turn.
Kids must be 100cm tall to ride the yellow and red slides and 120cm tall to ride the green and blue slides. Only one person is allowed to go down the slide at any time.
There is a large blue family slide which enables 3 people to ride at once. The younger kids love this one and again the queue for this goes down very quickly.The centrepiece of the slide structure is a huge tipping bucket which, without warning, tips out 1,000 litres of water. If you are stood underneath, nearby or are queuing for a turn on one of the slides – you will get wet!
Octopus Bay
Younger children will love Octopus Bay which caters for children aged 0 – 10 years. Octopus bay features a shallow, beach entry splash pool partly covered by shade sails which are perfect for younger children to cool off in.
A popular feature is the Octopus slide which consists of 3 slides covered by a water umbrella.
For the little ones, there is a super cute rainbow fish slide.
The kids really enjoyed the mini tipping bucket which showered down water at regular intervals. This is great for the younger kids who find the tipping bucket at the big slides a bit too heavy for them.
Around the perimeter of the water playground is many sun loungers – most of which have shade. If you wish to secure a couple I’d recommend arriving early or later in the day when people start to leave.
If you are willing to splash the cash then you can hire out one on their cabanas for the day. Available to hire are Splash Cabanas located next to the waterslide playground and Bay View Cabanas located next to Octopus Bay. The cabanas are suitable for 4 -6 guests and include 2 sun lounges,2 deck chairs and 6 complimentary bottles of water.
If you have a larger group then check out the Party Cabana which includes a large picnic table, 4 sun loungers and 12 complimentary bottles of water.
If you do miss out on securing a lounger there is a huge grassy area next to the water playground where many families had pitched up with their own sunshade from beach umbrellas to large gazebos. Look out for Pablo, the mascot of Outback Splash, who pops up every now and then and squirts people with his super soaker!
Right next to the water playground is a toilet block that includes showers and changing rooms. You’ll also find lockers to store your belongings.
Feeling hungry? There a snack kiosk serving pies, sandwiches, sausages, ice-creams and cold drinks. If you need a coffee or a more substantial meal then you’ll find these at the burger cafe. Once you’ve finished getting wet and wild don’t forget that The Maze has so much more to offer – it just keeps on growing!
The Mazes and More at Outback Splash
You’ll find mini-golf, many mazes, a playground, koalas and more. There are many free BBQs dotted around so why don’t you bring along your sausages and burgers!
All attractions are included in the entrance fee. The park has many mazes with the biggest being the timber maze, found close to the entrance. We find this tricky maze the most difficult. The wood panels look the same at every turn and it was really easy to get lost!
The aim of this maze is to navigate your way to the tower. From the top you get a great view of the maze (and can help your bamboozled friends!) and kids will love taking the slippery slide back to the bottom.
The traditional hedge maze is also a lot of fun! This is the only hedge maze in Perth and can also be quite a challenge!
Find your way to the center of the maze before your friends and then race them back to the exit.
Another firm favourite is the tractor tyre maze. Here you must walk the planks between each tyre in a specific order – red, yellow and blue to get to the checked flag.
Two small mazes look easy… but don’t be fooled! Danae’s Dilemma and Phil’s Frustration are brain teasers where you can either make right hand or left hand turns only to get to the end. It’s very tricky!
The whole park is beautifully landscaped with lots of grassed areas and plenty of shade. There are loads of picnic tables and sheltered areas (which need to be reserved) and there’s plenty of free BBQs. There is plenty of open space to throw down a picnic blanket, an let the kids run around the expansive lawns.
Didn’t bring a picnic or BBQ? There’s tasty take away options at the Burger Bar. Here there’s seating under shade sails on the outside deck.
The fun 9 hole mini golf course doesn’t take very long to complete, but you can play as many times as you like! There’s also a giant garden chess game.
A visit to the Koala enclosure is a must. These furry marsupials don’t do an awful lot, and you may well find them snoozing, munching on gum leaves or just hanging around…
They are ever so cute! There are keeper talks at the enclosure at 2pm each day. Here you can find out a little more about the animals and ask their keeper questions. For $15 you can get up close to the koalas, pat them and take a snap with them.
The play area is found amongst the picnic area and is very shady. There’s swings, a climbing net, climbing wall, slide, and four-person spring see-saw.
