Found in the heart of a new housing estate, Mason Green Park in Piara Waters is a brilliant spot for a play. There’s lots of fun elements packed into this compact playground including a little nature play, as well as thinks to keep active and fit. The wooden play equipment is partly shaded by shade sails and built on a mix of woodchip and soft fall base. And there’s lots to explore… There’s a nest swing, perfect for lounging around in! Stepping tree trunks and balancing logs. Little Chef particularly liked the climbing slope, with rope, up to the fort/slide. Read more…

Watermans Bay Playground is a hidden treasure, set back off the main West Coast Drive over-looking the sea. You can easily miss the turning as it’s such a small off-road down to a car park for approximately 30 cars. You’ll first come to the BBQs and picnic table and carry on and you’ll see the walk-way to the small bit of beach and rocks. Next you’ll see the full fenced playground and a large area of grass suitable for ball games. The fenced playground is set in sand and consists of a play frame with climbing nets and slide. In amongst all the shiny office buildings in West Perth is Totterdell Park. The leafy inner city park is made up of a soft fall play area with a large metal play frame that features two slides, “shop” window, climbing nets, ramps, monkey bars, a climbing wall and more. There is also a see-saw and fun nest swing too. This play area isn’t covered by shade sails, though the park is surrounded by mature trees, giving a little afternoon shade. The quiet park is not fenced and runs alongside Thomas Street, so you’ll want to keep an eye on little escape artists if you choose to take younger children. There is ample space Read more…

The Zig Zag is a very narrow and winding road, in the shape of… you guessed it, a zig zag! It was once the route travelled by steam trains, carrying timber gradually down the escarpment, from Canning Mills to the Midland Junction. The train tracks were dismantled in 1949, but you can still visit the Kalamunda Train Station and an old locomotive that sits proudly at the platform at the Kalamunda History Museum. You begin a drive down the Zig Zag at the top of the hill, on Lascelles Parade in Gooseberry Hill. With only enough room for the width of one car, it is a one way road. The Read more…

Around the corner from the well-known Jungle Park in the Swan Valley, a brand-new park has been constructed and is now open for play. The 1.4 hectare Honeycomb park, located in Peet’s Brabham Estate, features a bee theme and 6-metre ‘honeycomb’ play structure What a great park! The yellow and black honeycomb play structure is massive and includes a big, fast yellow slide. No fear of heights and fast speeds are required here! Noah’s Playground opened in October 2018 in the beautiful Rosehill Waters Estate, South Guildford, the playground is inspired by the story of Noah’s Arc and is perfect for adventurous kids! The main feature is a huge wooden structure with three towers joined by suspension bridges and a tunnel slide in the middle. Despite his persistence, my son who is almost 3 couldn’t climb the towers without assistance, so I was up and down with him loads of times – once at the top there is very little risk of falling and it is spacious enough for adults. The second climbing Read more…

If you’re looking for a playground that’s great for imaginative play, Albacore Park in Sorrento might be for you. It has a fun castle play structure that’s sure to get little imaginations going. Unlike a lot of playgrounds, Albacore Park’s main structure is wooden, giving it a more nature-based feel. The first thing we spotted was the two slides, one straight, one bumpy. These are connected by a low middle platform with a wooden ladder and a rope ladder leading up to the slides. A fireman’s pole comes down at one end, and a ladder of stacked rubber platforms that Read more…

Iluka Foreshore Park has a brand new nautical themed nature playground that kids of all ages are guaranteed to love! My kids and I visit a lot of playgrounds… but the brand new Wandi Playing Fields Playground is hands down our favourite playground in Perth (big call right!) – while there is no crazy slide or huge tower, there is lots of different play areas and something for kids of all ages and abilities! We were there for hours (much longer than anticipated) and not once did one of my kids complain they were bored or wanted to go home. If you love a walk or ride along the Swan River like we do, be sure to add the Scented Gardens Playground on the South Perth foreshore to your list of places to stop. The Scented Gardens are found Sir James Mitchell Park, about half way between the Mends Street Jetty and Coode Street Jetty. The manicured gardens themselves are a delight for the senses to walk around, featuring fragrant plants like lavender and rosemary – my guess is that kids will make a dash for the playground found right next to it! Vellgrove Reserve is a simple yet entertaining park located in Middle Swan. We discovered this quiet, colourful playground after making a wrong turn. My little girl was in love with the colourful stepping logs, so we had to stop for a play. The playground consists of 3 main structures: a wooden swing set, blocks of colourful stepping logs and a rock climbing frame with a slide on the other side. The playground is sand based with not a lot of shade, so definitely bring appropriate sun protection in the hotter months. Find more playgrounds in Perth Read more…

OPTUS STADIUM SENSORY PLAYGROUND – Smack in between the Camfield and the new bridge at Stadium park at Optus Stadium you will find a fully fenced sensory playground. This is a very well thought out, fun park! The first things my girls ran towards were the big rope climbing frame and the slide. The entrance to the slide is at the top of a “soft fall” hill – this meant getting to the slide was a good challenge for the little kids as they had to work out the best way up. It was interesting to watch so many attempt Read more…

Millet Park, Innaloo Around the corner, not far away from busy Westfield Innaloo, is Millet “Spider-Man” Park. The park gets its nickname from the large climbing “web” that is a prominent feature. It has two sides with rubber crows nest type platforms near the top. In the bottom level, there are six Tarzan-style pommel swings to hang from. Kids aged four and over will get the most out of these climbing ropes. For younger children, there Read more…

If you’re a parent to a toddler, a fenced and gated playground is a must! Allen Park in Swanbourne is a brilliant spot for wandering toddlers to play. The small sand-fall playground is partly shaded by mature trees. The traditional metal framed playground has lots of features to keep kids entertained.
