While we were all locked out of playgrounds due to COVID-19, Floreat Beach Playspace had a total makeover!
The focal point of the playground is the ‘Kraken’, a cephalopod-like sea monster which I think looks a little like a blue-ringed octopus! The wooden climbing structure features climbing obstacles and slide. You can also hide in the belly of the beast.
A tentacle to the side features different ropes and rings which are perfect for little monkeys.
Another tentacle houses a small net swing.
The highlight for my 3 year old was captaining the wooden boat – he loved pretending he was navigating the rough seas and sailing away from scary sea monsters!
There is a small water feature surrounded by rocks, spare clothes are a good idea if your kids are anything like mine. I noticed a lot of kids using their parents takeaway coffee cups to transport the water around to build mud castles and rivers. – The Kiosk Floreat Beach is located next to the playground.
Other features around the playground include a small wooden jetty and rope obstacles.
The playground is surrounded by a large grassed area and features plenty of picnic tables and BBQs. You can also grab a coffee, ice cream or a meal from The Kiosk Floreat Beach (takeaway and dine-in available). There are poles for shade sails for summer and public toilets are also available.
After a play you can enjoy a splash in the ocean or a leisurely coastal walk.
