After two years, the wait is finally over! The Bassendean Hotel aka “The Basso” is back and it’s so much more than your average pub.
With six unique areas to choose from depending on your feels – from a cozy lounge nook to a rowdy sports bar you won’t go hungry or thirsty as there is a bar in each and the option of ordering from your phone is super handy. I love it when you never have to leave your table!
The hotel has been restored with great care to keep its heritage but has been designed as an extremely family friendly venue. Right down to the amenities, things to do and eat for the little people.
We spent the majority of our time in the courtyard to celebrate my little one’s birthday. This area is guaranteed to be a favourite amongst families. It’s easily accessible from the carpark or street level and has plenty of picnic style tables to choose from.
The menu has a great selection of share or individual meals from your classic pub favourites to something a little bit fancier. At first glance the kids menu seemed like your standard average but we were pleasantly surprised with what actually came out for our little one. His choice of fried chicken and chips came with a dip and dessert! Very cute touch and probably a tactic to try to keep the kids at the table just a tiny bit longer because why eat when you can play!
Speaking of play, there is a playground! Drawing design inspiration from the local flora, fauna and history, the gated playground features a large climbing tower with an enclosed slide, sand pit and lots of wall space to draw on. A big tick for all the kids as well as the parents who can come here to enjoy a beverage or two.
