Little Olive Leaf Cafe is a quaint cafe located in Willagee, opposite Carrawatha Park. A great place to grab coffee or a bite to eat before or after a play. We stopped in for coffee after a play date in the park.
Don’t be put off if it looks crowded when you walk in, there is also seating out the front and in a lovely garden area out the back. The inside seating area is small with a choice of bar stools in the window, tables along the wall or a couch just before you walk through to the garden. We walked in after an hour or so in the park on a hot day and felt cooler immediately.
We had a baby in a pram and two toddlers in tow so opted to sit in the back garden where there is more space. The day we went it was lovely and shaded by the grapevines and everything looked lush and green. Even on a hot day, it seemed cooler in the garden. As I walked through the small hallway leading to the outside area and saw the garden I was impressed at how lush and relaxing it looked.
The seating out the front is a couple of tables and chairs under the shop awning. There was a bowl of water provided for dogs.
There was no menu to peruse but a cabinet of fresh foods to choose from including vegetable frittata, Mexican beans, toasted sandwiches, breakfast buns, a selection of paninis and wraps, salads, chicken and leek pie and chickpea or beef patties. There was a selection of cakes, muffins and slices as well. It all looked very fresh and appetising. The cafe use locally sourced produce and free range eggs and the salads and muffins/cakes are made fresh daily.
We opted for a babycino, coffee and smiley face cookie. The babycino came with a choice of marshmallow or teddy. The coffee was great and the cookie didn’t last long.
The kids had a great time playing with the selection of toys available. They found a kid size picnic table and made that their play area. There was also a chalkboard at the other end of the garden but we didn’t find any chalk.
The garden seating area makes good use of the space and the placing of the tables makes the seating areas feel quite separate. There are pretty flowers and cute garden ornaments to explore.
Conveniently located between the indoor and outdoor area is the toilet and change table. These are kept clean and smelt lovely.
Little Olive Leaf Cafe is rustic in style with plenty of quirky interesting things to look at and some surprising recycling like the ladder light frame. It is a great family run cafe with good wholesome food, I even saw small almond milk and coconut drinks in the fridge. Miss 3 and her friend didn’t want to leave the garden to go home.
