Visiting AQWA (the Aquarium of Western Australia) is always a treat, but their Sea School program for young children has taken our family’s experience to a whole new level! This weekly educational program is thoughtfully designed to engage toddlers and preschoolers, introducing them to the wonders of marine life in an interactive and fun way.
From the moment we arrived, the AQWA team made us feel welcome. The Sea School sessions are led by enthusiastic educators who are not only incredibly knowledgeable about sea animals but also amazing with kids. They understand how to keep little ones entertained while teaching them about the fascinating creatures of the underwater world.
Each session is centred around a different marine animal, allowing children to build their understanding over time. Activities include hands-on experiences like touching sea stars, learning through storytime, and fun crafts inspired by the ocean. It’s a delight to watch my child’s eyes light up as they learn about colourful fish, playful sea dragons, and even mysterious sharks.
What sets Sea School apart is its focus on creating a nurturing environment for young learners. The sessions strike a perfect balance between education and play, making learning effortless and enjoyable for the kids. It’s also a great opportunity for parents to meet and connect with other families.
The program’s location within AQWA is a bonus. After Sea School, we often explore the rest of the aquarium, which is home to some of the most incredible marine exhibits in Australia or enjoy a snack and cuppa at their cafe. My tot is a baby chino monster for sure! It’s a full day of discovery, and my toddler always leaves with stories to tell and crafts to show off to Daddy!
If you’re looking for a unique and meaningful activity for your little one, AQWA’s Sea School is a must-try. It’s more than a class—it’s an unforgettable journey into the underwater world that will leave your child (and you!) brimming with wonder. Highly recommended!
