Did you know that Bunnings isn’t only just for adults? Children too can enjoy their time at Bunnings by attending their free Kids’ DIY workshop and having a play at their indoor playground. With over 30 local stores in WA, there will be one around you that you can bring your little ones to kick start their DIY journey!
With a different theme at the workshop every week, children learn about gardening, woodworking, painting, and making recycled art projects.
From making simple toolboxes to using recycled materials to make toys and small planter boxes to making mosaic art, there’s something for every child to get their hands on. Watch them get all crafty and start making their unique creative pieces!
The Kids’ DIY workshop is suitable for children aged 3 – 12 and must be accompanied by adults during the event. Staff members explain to the children what they need for their project and help them get started. Here, we are making hula hoops using pipes.
Once they finish their project, they get a well-done sticker, too!
Younger siblings can enjoy some colouring and reading while waiting.
Bunnings stores also hold special events like Mother’s Day and Easter, where families can enjoy games, special appearances, and giveaways. We attended one of the Father’s Day workshops, where the children were joined by their dad and grandfather to make a tool caddy as a gift.
Missy 6 was very satisfied with her first woodworking piece!
There were in-store events to keep the children occupied, too.
Missy 6 loves to shop around with their baby trolley while we are there.
Indoor playgrounds are usually found in the bigger Bunning stores. Here at our local Bunnings at Cockburn Central, it has a multi-level playground in a gated play area for the children to enjoy. The floor of the playground is nicely foam-cushioned, too.
The café is conveniently located beside the playground, so you can grab a drink, let the husband do their shopping, and watch the kids play. Toilets are also available in stores.
And don’t forget to grab a sausage from the sausage sizzle on your way back to support your local fundraising charity!
Check out your local Bunnings store webpage and see what’s on, as different stores have different activities. And remember to book your place for the workshop to avoid disappointment.
