ANZAC Day is a solemn time to remember those who gave their lives in past wars. It can be the perfect time to discuss and teach your children about these events whilst paying tribute to these great men and woman. If you’re looking for family-friendly events and activities, then Buggybuddys has you covered. Check out our list of ANZAC-themed events around Perth including parades, services, breakfasts and more. There’s sure to be something to suit everyone.

Please keep in mind if you have a child with sensory sensitivities to noise that there may be Flypasts performed by the RAAF. We will update our post with these details when/if they become available.

Anzac At Home Ideas

Can’t get out to an Anzac Day event with small kids or due to health issues? Not to worry! You can always observe at home. Why not create some Anzac themed crafts with the kids or bake some Anzac biscuits? The Australian War Memorial website has a list of ideas for the whole family, starting with making paper Anzac poppies.

Another fun craft idea is to make Anzac Day lanterns to light up the dawn on Anzac Day. Be A Fun Mum blog has some easy instructions on how to upcycle a milk bottle into a colourful lantern. Battery operated candles are a flame-free option to avoid burns.

ANZAC Day at ANZAC Cottage 2024

ANZAC Day at ANZAC Cottage is an evocative event held at the first World War 1 memorial built in Western Australia. Highlighted with a ceremony at sunset, the event is family and community based with information and activities for all to commemorate this important day in the Australian calendar.

ANZAC Day at ANZAC Cottage, an event held annually by the Friends of ANZAC Cottage, is designed to reflect the origins of the Cottage, which was built with volunteer labour, skills and donations in 1916. There will be the opportunity to visit the Cottage and discover the unique story of its origins and of the dedicated people who undertook this imaginative project. Displays and photographs will provide information and stories that promote understanding and appreciation of both the servicemen and women as well as the community’s struggles throughout World War I Each year, the Friends of ANZAC Cottage ensures that the younger generation plays an important role in our commemorative events. In 2024, children will be invited to participate in a free wreath-making workshop that will enable them to join in the service at the end of the day.
