Aloft Perth Review
If you are planning a family-friendly staycation in Perth City then make sure you add Aloft Perth to your shortlist! Part of the Marriott chain and the first Aloft Hotel in Australia, Aloft Perth opened in 2017 and is located a short stroll from the banks of the Swan River in Rivervale.
Hotel Facilities
Families will enjoy making use of the 18 metre heated outdoor splash pool which is connected to the hotel’s W XYZ Bar meaning you can supervise the kids in the pool from the comfort of your sun lounger with one of their signature cocktails in hand. Don’t worry you can work off those cocktails later at the large fully equipped gym located on the mezzanine floor.
W XYZ Bar is located in lobby area and provides a comfortable spot to enjoy an evening drink with live music on weekends.
However, if you wish to enjoy your drink without your children disturbing the other guests you can choose to sit in comfort in the adjoining Re:mix lounge while the kids are occupied with a game of Foosball or ping-pong.
The Rooms
The modern, well-appointed rooms offer families a comfortable base to explore Perth City. We stayed in a twin room which featured two double beds.
Request a room on one of the higher floors, there are 18 in total, and you’ll be greeted with fabulous views of the Swan River or Perth City from the floor to ceiling windows.
The bathroom is sleek and roomy, featuring a rain shower (no bath), ample storage, full-length mirrors and great lighting.
The hotel features art from local artists which extends into the guest rooms. Who needs to go exploring the laneways of Perth City to get an Insta-perfect photo when you can create it in the hallway of your room?
The Dining
When staying at Aloft Perth make sure you sample the delights on offer at the in house restaurant Springs Kitchen – you won’t be disappointed! Located on the ground floor of the hotel, Springs Kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6am – 8.30pm each day offering a variety of modern Australian dishes.
This was our second time staying at Aloft and dining and Springs Kitchen and the food was just as impressive as the first time! We shared the antipasto platter to start ($24) and the Beef Carpaccio ($20).
For our main course, we enjoyed the Slow Cooked Pork Belly ($38) consisting of sweet potato puree, mushroom spring roll, house pickles and Gochujang and the Grilled Rump Steak ($45) which came with duck fat Kipfler potatoes, seasonal greens and chimichurri. The food was divine and the service attentive.
Springs Kitchen offers an excellent kids menu with the meals being of high quality and accompanied by a healthy portion of side salad or vegetables. Miss 10 was so disappointed when the mash that occupied the grilled chicken breast that she’d really enjoyed on her last visit had been replaced by sweet potato puree but the chef was super accommodating and whipped up a portion just for her which was amazing!
The kids also indulged in the chocolate fudge Brownie ($8) and Fruit Salad
Breakfast is served each morning in Springs Kitchen, with the times varying based on the day of the week. You can opt for the full breakfast buffet or select from the a la carte menu.
The buffet offers a substantial spread from your usual hot fare of bacon, eggs, sausages and the like, to pastries, cakes, cold meats, fruits and a variety of yoghurt.
Parking
You may be lucky enough to find free roadside parking close to the hotel but if security and convenience are high on your list then there is a Wilson car park next to the hotel which offers easy access straight into the hotel lobby. Guests can request a discounted parking ticket upon check-in. Monday – Thursday overnight parking is $15 and Friday – Sunday $10.
Explore
Aloft Perth offers the perfect location for a busy family staycation exploring Perth City. Take a stroll along the Swan River and explore the Chevon Parkland Playground, or take a tour of Optus Stadium. If you are a family of daredevils you might even want to try your hand at indoor skydiving at Ifly which is located just along the road from the hotel.
