Each and every Sunday morning, the lovely Perth Hills town of Kalamunda is bustling. The weekly Kalamunda Farmers Market is a dellicious event, perfect for stocking up your fridge with fresh, locally grown fruit and veggies. Plus, you can enjoy a tasty breakfast and treat yourself to something new. The prices are often much better value than the supermarkets. Much of the produce on offer is spray-free and picked from Bickley, Walliston and Karagullen vegetable gardens the night before. You canโt get much fresher than that!
If you haven’t visited in a while, the central mall has had a makeover. There’s now more places to sit, with your brekkie.
Plus a little stepping log play area. Be careful of cars, as this is next to a car park.
If you love freshly made artisan food, thereโs baked goods, pate, honey, cheese, fresh seafood, and olive oil to taste and buy. The stall line up changes each week.
Thereโs always something new to check out.
For green thumbs, thereโs a wide range of potted herbs, vegetable seedlings, chilli plants, a variety of indoor plants, and succulents. Treat yourself to a bunch of blooms or a new plant!
For little kids, thereโs always a free bouncy castle to have a bounce on.
Thereโs often other activities too. The morning we visited there was a face painter.
Fur kids are welcome too (on leads). There’s plenty of water bowls for dogs. Live entertainment creates a vibrant atmosphere too. The Kalamunda Farmers Market is also a great spot to have a tasty feed. Little Chef always makes a bee-line for the giant frypan of snags. The German sausages with fried onions and sauerkraut are so tasty!
There are lots of lovely gift shops and cafes in Kalamunda. The micro collective is on the same street as the markets and is well worth a browse.
The Farmers Wife, who has a juice stall, is a favourite of mine. She’s hills local and her juices are always deliciously refreshing. We love the community feel that the Kalamunda Farmers Markets bring.
Itโs also the perfect way to start a day in the hills. Why not, enjoy a drive around the Bickley Valley Wineries and stop somewhere for lunch. And follow the Kalamunda Fairy Door Trail too!
Find the Kalamunda Markets on every Sunday in Central Mall, Kalamunda, 8am until noon.
